“I may have taken a lesson or two.”
“Oh really?”
“You can thank Jenna.” He glances back at his sister who is watching us with a huge smile on her face. Both Jenna and Naomi have quickly become a huge part of my life. I’ve gained two sisters. They are loud and very opinionated, they are strong and at times temperamental. They are my people, I love them, and throw Taylor and Marco into the mix and we have the greatest gal group you could ask for.
Our song ends, and another begins, as others join us on the dance floor.
Jensen holds me tighter to him as he leans in and rests his forehead to mine. Softly singing the words to the song, he then hums, before going silent once again.
“I love seeing you and Sebastian getting along.” It’s something I never thought I'd witness.
“I think I’m growing on him.” He smiles and then is quiet once more, like he is deep in thought. “Your father called me son,” he whispers with his eyes closed, as he takes a deep breath. I know right now he’s missing his father. A few months ago he confessed he’d wished his father had gotten the chance to meet me. It turned into an emotional conversation, one I will never forget. I’ve seen photos and watched videos, and I see a little bit of their father in each one of them.
“He may not be here, but he’s with us.” Jensen nods but says nothing in return, as he kisses me softly.
“I swear I think I fall a little more in love with you each day.” He hugs me tighter, as I rest my head on his shoulder. “My strong, loving, gorgeous wife.” A big smile stretches over his lips when he says the word wife that warms every part of my body.
He told me a week ago, while we were lying in bed and it was completely dark in our bedroom, that he wished he found me first. He didn’t have to say more, because I understood. I felt it too. Before I kissed all the frogs, life would have been so much simpler if I’d found my prince from the start. But then I think that it took those mistakes to find our truths and for that I am grateful those troubles led me to Jensen.
The man that loved me better than I could have ever imagined.
A man who no matter what is in my corner ready to fight off all the dark demons and love me unconditionally.
My protector.
My love.
My husband.
