Luca finished his food first, and Tillie put hers on hisdesk, then reached into her bag to bring out a dessert. This was achocolate mousse she had started yesterday and finished today, adding a bit of whipped cream.

He took the mousse from her, and as she finished her chicken,he worked on his dessert. She hadn’t packed one for herself, as thechicken was enough for her. Also, she didn’t have quite the sweettooth she once used to.

“Amazing,” he said.

Tillie was about to talk whensuddenly there was aknock at the door, but no one waited for an answer as itopened.

“Luca, I think you should see this,” herfather Andrew said, coming into the room.

They hadn’t talked in so long. She had knownhe felt a little guilty at the fact she was having to do this inthe first place. There had been no out for her. She didn’t have achoice.

Andrew stepped up to the desk, and sheguessed he hadn’t seen her.

Luca frowned as he placed the paperwork infront of him.

“I think that is my cue to go,” Tilliesaid.

By speaking, her father finally looked up. “Tillie,” hesaid.

She offered a smile. “Dad.”

“I had no idea you were here.”

“I came to see Luca.” She smiled at herhusband, and this was enough awkwardness for her. “I better go andlet you get back to work.”

She went to leave but Luca cleared histhroat and she turned toward him. His brows were raised and shedidn’t know what he wanted. Then he pointed at his lips, and she felt so silly andconfused.

She rounded the desk and pressed a kiss tohis lips. “I’ll see you at home tonight.”

And with that, she left.

Chapter Five

“Do you want to tell me what is going onwith your father?” Luca asked the moment he stepped into thekitchen that night.

Tillie had on one of her many aprons andstood at the stove, stirring a pot.

“Nothing is going on.”

“No?” He folded his arms across hischest.

“No, there isn’t, and what was withpointing at your lips at lunchtime as if I’m supposed to knowexactly what you want? We’ve never kissed like that.”

“No, but having my face between your legsthis morning didn’t showa sign of things changing?”

She gasped and he saw her face gored. “I had noidea.”

“It’s simple. As part of our marriage, you kiss me when youenter and leave a room, and just so you know, I’m standing in thekitchen.”

Tillie opened her mouth and closed it. “Areyou just going to spend our marriage making up rules as they suityou?”

“I’ve never been married before so I ammaking up rules that suit both of us.”

She rolled her eyes and he found it socute, but then he did get a kiss, and all was well.

Tillie moved away and went back to her poton the stove.

“So, what is going on with your father?”
