“That’s beautiful,” I whispered, as tears burned my eyes.
It was so sweet. So surprising. I’d known Cameron loved his family and his land, but it kept surprising me how deep that love ran for him.
“So are you.” With his hands sweeping up my inner thighs, spreading my legs wider, goose bumps followed the trail of his hands.
He’d tossed the wet cloth somewhere and was dropping to his knees.
“Cameron…”
“Heels at the edge of the bed, Ava. Let me get a taste of what I’ve been missing so much.”
“I don’t know if I can have sex with your dad watching.”
Cameron threw his head back and laughed. “Close your eyes then, Sunshine. Because I’m not taking that photo down for any amount of money in the world.”
He pressed his tongue to my clit.
I did as instructed—with both my heels and my eyes—and in the end, I completely forgot Charles Kelley was grinning down at us from the bedroom wall.
It was after the third round, which happened in the shower after he went down on me, and it was after I was wearing only a T-shirt Cameron had given me that fell almost to my knees when his phone rang.
We were in the kitchen, me sitting on his island, legs dangling over the edge, while he dug through the refrigerator for snacks and refreshments, when his phone rang.
Cameron glanced at it on the counter. “It’s my brother.”
“Take it.”
“He can wait.”
The phone call ended, and then a text came through.
Glancing at it, Cameron frowned when looking at me. “It just says to call him.”
“So call him.”
“I want you all to myself this weekend. He can wait.”
I leaned forward and wrapped my hand around his wrist. “Take the call, Cameron. It could be important.”
He and Emily were both now back in Denver full-time. Emily still worked at a middle school, Landon was in preschool half-days, and Caleb’s own hockey schedule was going to have him traveling far too frequently for something I’d ever enjoy in my life.
Thank God I fell for the football player. Their travel schedule was far less intense, even if our time apart was almost as much. I ignored the quick pain in my chest at the thought of continuing to be separated from Cameron for who knew how long while he called his brother back.
“Hey, man,” he said.
He had put Caleb on speaker because, all too soon, an exact replica of Cam’s voice with a touch of playfulness came through the phone. “Know you want the weekend alone, but Emily wants you two over for dinner tonight.”
“Fuck no,” Cameron said.
“Cam!” I slapped his stomach.
“No way,” he said to me, and then back to his phone, “I’ll come over sometime during the week. How’s that sound?”
Well, now wait a minute… “What if it’s me Emily wants to see and not you?”
“I’ll save you two the fight before it starts,” Caleb said through the phone. “I already told her you’d be too busy doing things I absolutely do not want specifics to, but she likes Ava. Wants to get to know her more, and she doesn’t get to entertain very often. Come for dinner. Leave after. But come hang out with us.”
“What’s Emily cooking?” Cameron asked, his tone thick with sarcasm.
