The room fills with men in black SWAT outfits. Massive guns and shields point our way. “Everybody down!”

Now my heartbeat thuds for a whole other reason.

Dom pulls out, backing away. He pulls up his pants, my eyes wide as I scan the scene. He drops to his knees before pulling me with him.

“Everybody down! Now!” The SWAT guy yells again.

Men in black and grey move to each of Dom’s men, Lev cursing behind us. I’ve heard of this scene. The cops finally nab the bad guys, us, for our wrongdoings. But Dom’s men stay locked up tight. I never thought they’d go down like this.

Someone ratted them out.

Was it the guy from earlier? An enemy?

I should have never come here.

A man hustles over to me, throwing a blanket over my shoulders. When he points a gun at me, I freeze. A thud in my chest. “To your feet!”

“Lay off,” Dom says, his jaw ticking as I rise to my feet. “She’s got nothing to do with this.”

Crack!

The officer sends the end of his gun flying through Dom’s face and now I’m wondering who’s really the bad guy when all Dom did was comply. I’m about to yell, but Dom gives me a look that tells me to shut up as the officer escorts me out.

Looking behind me, Dom keeps his eyes on me while the officers rattle off rights and rip through their base.

“Let’s get you home, young lady,” the officer says.

But that’s exactly where I was.

Chapter Twenty-Six

It takes a couple more rounds of sodas and another water bottle of vodka to get the party going, but Lev was right.

After my third drink, I’m feeling as good and warm as I always did around them.

I’ve even forgotten how mad I am at Feliks, laughing along with all three. Feliks' golden eyes glitter across the table like he meant what he said before. And now, part of me wants to pull him home and make him apologize a few more times. Combined with Lev’s flirty winks and Vlad’s intense looks, this is the most fun I’ve had at Bible Burger.

Except something feels off. And Dom is to blame.

“Thought I was the sulky one,” Lev says. Someone’s knee nudges into me under the table and I’m guessing it’s him. “Vodka go to your head, Merlo?”

“Shit.” Vlad looks at the screen of his phone as it vibrates on the table. “Guys, we’re late.”

My brows lower. “For what?” Then I snort. “Daddy gonna spank you for missing curfew?” A stupid chuckle comes from my mouth, reminding me how tipsy I am. With another look around the filling restaurant, I’m hoping no one notices. Not that my reputation here isn't already hanging by floss.

“We gotta go.” Vlad ignores my comment, pushing out of the booth as Lev and Feliks rise to their feet. Lev has a wobble when he stands, Feliks, a stupid smirk on his face.

Settling into my seat, I cross my arms. “I don’t have to go anywhere. I don’t answer to Dominik Federov.” Vlad’s eyes land on me before he sighs. He tilts his chin and before I know it, I’m picked up from my seat. “Hey!”

“Keep it down, Mia.” Feliks’ voice comes from behind me. “Or we’ll make you.” His words send a shiver through me. Blame it on the alcohol, but the thought of having all six of their hands on me does something.

“She hurt her knee,” Lev says as he passes a table of students, some I recognize from class.

Once we’re out, I’m plopped into the seat of the twins’ muscle car, a bottle of vodka coming to my lap. Feliks hops in on the other side, while Vlad and Lev take the front. “Where are we going?” I ask, not ready to go back to the house and face Dom.

Will the guys actually talk to him about it? Or will they let him keep berating me for a sin I didn’t commit?

“To church,” Vlad says, pulling out of the lot.
