“Still delusional, I see. That’s okay.” She backed up. “I thought I’d want my pound of flesh, but I think this is better. It’s time for everyone else to have theirs.”
Matteo and Gianna moved back into the darkness, allowing the others to vent their anger and vengeance. Pietro’s screams were music to her ears, until the last breath left his body and he screamed no more.

“A love like this can know no death.”

Gianna walked through the sprawling house that held nothing but horrible memories. Sheets draped over the furniture and pictures. Anything personal packed away. With what happened in the basement, she refused to live there, and Matteo agreed with her. They decided to put it on the market.
With one last look around, she made her way out the front door. Gunner waited for her by the car, wearing mirrored sunglasses.
“Ready?” he asked.
“Yes. I never want to see this place again.”
“I don’t blame you,” he said.
She stopped in front of him. “Thank you.”
“You don’t have to thank me.”
“You saved my life.”
“And you got rid of a demon.”
She smiled at him. “I had help.”
“Yes,” he said, holding the door open for her. “I heard Matteo stood against his father. I guess I was wrong about him.”
“Yeah, I was, too.”
She slid into the car and Gunner closed the door, sliding behind the wheel and driving away. Gianna never looked back.
The new Romanelli home lay in the city, in the section called Streeterville. Matteo bought a high rise, where he could hold his business on the lower floors and where they could live in the penthouse. There were apartments for all their security, including Caelian and Gunner. For her, they were part of her family.
Once Gunner pulled into the underground parking lot and escorted her to the elevator, she rode it up to the second floor where Matteo worked, and thanked Gunner once she reached the door.
She opened it, staying quiet since he was on the phone. She locked the door and turned the glass walls opaque to give them privacy. He tracked her movements, heat rising in his gaze. Slowly, she undressed, giving a striptease. Several times he fell silent, prompting the person on the other end to call out his name.
Licking her lips, she removed her bra and Matteo’s eyes traced over every curve of her body.
“Something came up,” he said, cutting off the person on the other end. He hung up and tossed his phone on the desk before rising and heading over to her.
“What came up?” she asked coyly.
“My dick,” he replied. His hands landed on her hips and pulled her into his body, bending his head to kiss her.
“How about I bend you over the desk and fuck you from behind?”
“Yes, please,” she panted.
He kissed his way down her chest, until latching on to one of her nipples. He lavished the hard nub, and an answering ache thrummed through her pussy. Trailing his fingers down her body, he slipped under her panties to discover how wet she was. She moaned as he found her clit, alternating with light and heavy petting.
“Damn, baby,” he said as he kissed his way back up. “Turn around and lean over the desktop.”
She did as he ordered, bracing herself.
