I miss them.

The growing distance is painful, even after the revelation of the bet they made. I am beginning to think I should forgive and forget. Move on, and be happy. So, what if this was a bet in the beginning- that doesn’t mean it still is. They have shown me repeatedly that they want me, and I want them. Even Midas. He has been the biggest asshole I have ever met, but I like that about him. He challenges me, and it’s an exhilarating feeling. I have never fought back in life, but with Midas, I can. He may say he hates it, but I see the sparkle and excitement in his eyes when I do.

Midas may seem like the type to want someone to be submissive to him, but I can see how he relishes the fight I give. It’s refreshing for both of us. Everyone cowers from him at school. No one would dare cross him except me. He brings a new side out of me. A side that I am learning is who I am meant to be.

I can only imagine how explosive sex would be with him. I bet he is into some kinky stuff. Stuff that I want to explore. When I pictured sex with Evan, all I could picture was missionary style that would leave me unsatisfied. Thinking about Midas opens a new set of doors I want to walk through.

Instinctively, I clench my thighs together, trying to tamper the desire in me. It’s not working. I can feel my panties getting wet and my nipples hardening under my shirt. I can hear someone clearing their throat behind me. I turn around, seeing Midas grinning behind me as if he knows precisely what I am thinking. I don’t know how he can read me so well, but he does. Midas winks at me. My cheeks turn rosy, and I bite my lower lip before turning back around.

Lost in my thoughts of fucking Midas, I almost miss the bell ringing and dismissing the class. I hastily grab my books and rush from the class before Midas can catch up to me.

I keep my head down as I navigate the crowded hallways, trying to hide the blush still on my face. I can feel Midas looming behind me. I turn to look at him. He is standing in the middle of the hallway. He gives me a cocky grin as he continues to watch me. I turn back around to walk away and knock into another body. My bag falls on the floor, the contents spilling everywhere. I mumble under my breath as I bend over to pick everything up.

A large hand holds my phone in front of my face. I look up to thank whoever is helping and stop in my tracks. Zeus stands before me, giving me the most panty-melting smile I have ever seen. If I weren’t already wet from my daydream of Midas, I would be now from that smile. I want to say something, thank him, but I can't get the words out. I have seen him smile before, but nothing ever like this. He usually gives me a shy smile, unsure of himself.

I grab my phone from his hand and toss it in my bag. He crouches down and helps pick up the rest of my stuff. When everything is back in my bag, he helps me stand. The light touch between us send sparks through me. I have come to love that feeling.

“Th…thank you,” I whisper out.

“You never need to thank me, siren.” Zeus’s fingers brush against my cheek before he glides them down my throat and across my cleavage. I gasp from the contact, but I never want him to stop.

He leans down and softly brushes his lips against my cheek before turning and walking away. I stand frozen in the hallway as I watch him walk away. My cheek tingles where his lips were. I watch him for a second before snapping out of that trance. I open my bag to grab my phone and notice my keys aren't there. I glance around at the floor, hoping to see them still on the floor somewhere. I can’t find them anywhere.

I run down the hallway, trying to find Zeus, thinking he might have accidentally picked them up. For such a big guy, he's arduous to find when you need him. I turn down another hall and see him at the end, near the front door.

I call out his name, but he doesn’t hear me. I pick up my pace, trying to catch up to him. He walks out the front doors before I finally grab his arm to stop him. He turns around, surprised to see me.

“Did you pick up my keys by accident?” I ask.

He doesn’t say anything to me. His eyes are darting back and forth between mine before he lets out a sigh. He pats his pant pockets, and I can hear them jingle in his pocket. He guiltily pulls them out and hands them over to me. I reach out to grab them. His other hand grabs me and pulls me into his body. I can feel every taut muscle under his shirt. His arm wraps around me and holds me close to him. I melt into his weird hug, loving the feeling of being in his arms again. He embraces me for a few more seconds before letting me go and handing me my keys.

I grab them as the bell rings, signaling that class starts soon. I start walking back into the school, but he isn’t following me. I look over my shoulder at him. He hasn’t moved an inch, just watching me. He is thinking something, but I can’t figure out what. He gives me a weak smile before I turn around and run to my next class.

Midas and Odin are already in class, sitting in the back row. Midas is looking at his phone, scowling. Odin’s eyes snap to me the second I walk in. He gives me a wink and a cheeky smile. Midas looks up at me, the scowl still on his face. Only a few minutes ago, he was smiling at me, and now he looks like he is ready to murder someone.

I duck my head and walk to my seat beside Evie. The second my ass hits the seat, Evie starts talking a mile a minute, but I am only half listening to her. I can’t stop myself from glancing back. Midas is blankly staring at a girl across the room who is openly giving him a show. She unbuttons enough of her shirt that her tits are almost falling out. She bats her lashes at Midas before biting her bottom lip.

I can’t tell if Midas is enjoying the show or just zoned out. Tits McGee seems to think he is focused on her, licking her bottom lip seductively at Midas. His face shows no reaction, but he hasn’t taken his eyes off her. Odin elbows Midas in the stomach, causing Midas to scowl at him. Like the lunatic Odin is, he just smiles back at him.

I turn around before Midas notices me watching. I turn my attention to Mr. Labeau. He is standing at the front of the class, leaning against his desk. His eyes scan the room, taking in every student until he reaches me. His eyes linger on me for a few seconds. Mr. Labeau cocks his head to the side and smiles at me.

I give him a shaky smile, confused as to why he is smiling at me, before giving my attention to Evie. She tells me about a prank her younger brothers pulled on her last night, complaining that they are driving her wild. I chuckle at her dramatics.

“I’m not kidding, Serena. I was ready to kill them last night.” She scolds me, but the smile never leaves her face. She may act like she hates her brothers, but she wouldn’t trade them for anything. They may annoy her, but she is the best big sister to them.

When everyone is finally seated, Mr. Labeau claps his hands and starts the lesson. I try to pay attention, but I can’t. Too many things running through my head lately. Right now, all I can think about is Midas. Why did he go from flirting with me, to scowling at me then staring at another girl. Is this another game he is playing?

“Ms. Gold.” I snap back to reality, and Mr. Labeau is staring at me, his head cocked to the side.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Labeau. Can you repeat the question?” I clear my throat and look up at him. His eyes narrow as he looks at me. He repeats the question, and I answer him correctly.

Mr. Labeau nods his head and then continues teaching.

I try to pay attention, but I can’t. With each increasingly horrible thought that comes, I can hear Evan’s voice in the back of my head.

Of course, you were a game to them.

No one would ever want you.
