“You seem to have caught their attention,” Grace says nervously from across the table. I look over, and all three are sitting at a table on the other side of the cafeteria, openly staring at me. Midas looks at me like I’m a puzzle he wants to figure out. Odin looks at me with a crazed smile like I’m his next meal. Zeus is looking but with something different. Something I can’t quite figure out. I glare at them before turning around. I hear a loud laugh that must be coming from one of them.

“It’s better to stay away from them. They are trouble with a capital T,” Evie says.

I agree.

“Don’t worry. I have zero interest in mixing with the Kings. I plan on keeping my head down. Get through these ten months, then graduate and move back to Daytona Beach.” I stab my fork into my salad and take a bite.

I resist the urge to look over my shoulder at them. I can feel their stares on the back of my head. Sure, there is something about all three of them. They are gorgeous, like unfairly gorgeous. No man should be as pretty as they are, but as Evie said, they are trouble. I don’t do trouble.

I can’t help myself. I sneak a glance back at the Kings. They are no longer looking at me, thankfully. The bitchy girl from my class earlier is with them. She is sitting next to Midas, her hands all over him. She looks at him like he is her God, while he looks at her like she is trash. I feel a stab in my heart at that. Not because I am jealous or anything else, but because Evan looks at me like that. When he isn’t so hyper-lovey with me, he gives me the exact look, and I always look like her.

I turn around and keep quiet for the rest of lunch. I answer when someone asks me a question, but I stay silent the rest of the time. Staying in the background, where I am comfortable.

The bell rings, and everyone gets up for their next class. I give the girls a small wave before heading toward my locker.

“New girl!” A deep, dark voice calls from behind me. I don’t even turn around; I just keep walking. I know it’s them. I can feel their stares, like an inferno on my skin.

“New girl! Hey! I’m talking to you.” He calls again. I can hear the footsteps running toward me.Just ignore them and keep going. Before I can take another step, someone grabs my shoulder and stops me.

I sigh and turn around. Midas is standing right in front of me. He is even more breathtaking up close. His golden amber eyes stare down at me with amusement. His skin has a rich, golden hue, which looks too good to be true. He is living up to the name of Midas. Everything he touches turns to gold.I wonder if he wants to touch something else that is Gold?Down girl, don't think about them like that. I shake his hand off my shoulder and try to walk away. He grabs my hand and pulls me in close to him. I can feel his tight muscles under his shirt against me.

“I was talking to you, new girl.” He practically spits at me, not used to being ignored.

“And I was ignoring you. Take the hint, I’m not interested.” I spit back, trying to be as intimidating as he is. Odin laughs at my comment. I turn toward him, and with the same anger I have towards Midas, I glare at him. He only laughs harder.

Midas stares down at me, looking like he wants to say something but can’t figure out what to say. Instead, his hands glide to my back. I gasp at the feeling of his hands tenderly holding me. I look into his eyes. So much warmth is in them, but danger too. Like a fire that burns hot and bright. A fire I want to jump into. Midas’s hands trail down my back and grab my ass. I want to yell at him, tell him to stop, but the words won’t form. Desire like I have never felt before spikes through my body. He smirks down at me, obviously knowing what he is doing to me. His hands creep up a little, and he puts them in my back pockets. Holding my ass, pulling my body so close to him that a piece of paper wouldn’t fit between us.

Before I know what he is doing, he pulls out my phone and the folded-up schedule and then hands it to Odin. Midas steps away and looks at the paper with Odin. I yell at both to stop, but they ignore me. I look over at Zeus, hoping he will stop them, but he doesn’t look like he cares what is going on.

I stay rooted to my spot, giving them all death stares, waiting for them to finish whatever the hell they are doing. They glance over my schedule, memorizing it. I want to rip it out of his hands, but I don’t want to start anything with them. The faster they do whatever they want, the faster I can leave and ignore them again. Next, Odin holds up my phone. The phone is locked, so he turns it around to get my face scanned to unlock it. Odin scrolls through my phone. I grow more tense as the seconds wear on. His jaw tenses before he starts typing something on my phone. I hear all three of their phones go off at the same time. Did he send them a message from my phone so they have my number?Bastard.

Midas looks back at my schedule and takes a picture with his phone. I hear Zeus and Odin’s phones go off a few seconds later. He sent it to them. Avoiding and ignoring them is going to be hard, especially now that they have my number and my schedule. Fuck. When Midas finishes, he hands over my stuff, gives me a wink, and they walk away.

I stare, dumbfounded at what just happened. People pass in the hallway while I watch them walk away like nothing happened. Why the hell do they want my schedule and phone number? I haven’t even spoken a word to any of them.I have to ask Evie about this. I pull out my phone, thinking about texting Evie, but I don’t have her number. I guess I will have to ask later.

I see a dozen missed texts from Evan.

The more I read, the angrier I can tell he is getting. I groan, gripping my phone harder. I swear if I squeeze it any tighter, it will start cracking. I take a deep breath, pocket my phone, and walk to my next class.

Finally, it's the last period of the day.

I see Evie sitting in the back of the class and waves me over. I walk to her and sit down next to her. I take my math book out and set everything on my desk that I need for the class. The teacher walks in, and my jaw drops.

He looks to be in his mid-twenties. His brown hair is perfectly styled, keeping it out of his face. He has a neatly trimmed beard and a strong jaw. His brown eyes are looking around at all the students. He stares at me with a look of fascination before turning around and heading to the front of the class. He looks about the same height as Midas but on the leaner side.

“What are you staring at?” A voice says beside me, causing me to let out a little shriek. The teacher looks up at me, and I give him a shy smile to let him know I’m all right. I look over, and Odin is sitting beside me. Midas and Zeus wander into class and sit in front of us.Great, so much for avoiding them.

I don’t bother answering Odin or even paying attention to any of them. I turn to face Evie and give her a look that sayslet’s move seats.Evie nods, and we both get up and walk to the only seats that aren’t near them. There are two seats in the front of the class, far away from trouble. The bell rings.

“Good afternoon, students. My name is Mr. Labeau, and welcome to Mathematics.” He announces to the class, clapping his hands. He continues to tell us what we will be learning this year and what to expect from this class.

My phone starts to vibrate in my bag, one after another. I don’t bother trying to find it and look. My guess is the three assholes behind me are trying to get my attention. My phone keeps vibrating and driving me insane. Mr. Labeau keeps looking over at me. I give him an apologetic smile and grab my phone from my bag. I hide it under the desk and scroll through the new text messages.

There are easily another ten messages from each of them. There are none from Zeus and way too many from Evan. I delete the ones from Midas and Odin before turning my phone off and putting it back in my bag.

Screw those Neanderthals. I don’t have to do anything they tell me to.

Mr. Labeau looks at me and cocks his eyebrow. My cheeks go violently red with embarrassment. I wanted to keep as little attention on me as possible. If today is anything to go by, that won’t happen. I have caught the attention of three guys that I know I should stay away from. Now, I caught the attention of the teacher. I have always been a model student, and he probably thinks that I am just going to screw around. I have to get things back on track. I will stay clear of the Kings, keep my grades up, and blend into the background again.
