“They already love you, Kels.”

“But you didn’t warn them,” Kelsey said.

“Yes, I did,” Isabella said with a grin. “I told them I’m bringing a big surprise.”

Kelsey sighed.

Isabella reached over and squeezed her hand. “Come on, babe.”

They got out of the car and walked to Isabella’s front door. She opened it and before she could say anything Gus exclaimed. “Mommy!”

He jumped up, ran to the front door and stopped. “Kelsey?”

“Hi, Gus,” Kelsey said with a big smile.

He ran to her and hugged her tightly. Kelsey raised her brows at Isabella and put her arms around the little boy. Isabella thought her heart would melt in her chest.

Gus looked up into Kelsey’s face and grinned. “Are you our surprise?”

Kelsey chuckled. “I hope you’re not too disappointed.”

“Yippee!” he said, letting her go. “Wyatt! You’ll never guess who’s here.” He took off down the hall and disappeared.

“That shows you how much they miss me.” Isabella shrugged.

Gus came running back into the room with his older brother behind him. “See!” Gus said, running up to Kelsey.

“Hold it, mister,” Isabella said. “How about a hug for your mom?”

Gus giggled and threw his arms around Isabella.

“Hi, Wyatt,” Kelsey said with a smile.

“You’re really here,” he replied. “Are Dana and Emma with you?”

“Not this time. They graduate from college next month so they're back in Colorado studying, I hope.”

He nodded and hugged Isabella. “Hi, Mom.”

Isabella hugged her oldest son and smiled over the top of his head at Kelsey. “He’ll be as tall as me by the end of the summer.”

Wyatt pulled away and grinned, then he put an arm around Kelsey and gave her a side hug. “Are you going to be here tomorrow after school?”

Kelsey smiled and looked at Isabella. “Yes, I’m staying a couple of days.”

“I have a baseball game tomorrow night. Mom always comes and you’re invited, too,” Wyatt said.

“I’d love to watch you play.”

He smiled shyly and nodded.

“Okay, boys. Out of the way. It’s my turn,” Marti said as she came into the room.

“Mom, I’d like you to meet Kelsey Kenny,” Isabella said.

Kelsey stuck out her hand. “It’s nice to meet you.”

Marti took her hand and pulled her into a hug. “We’re huggers around here. Isabella speaks of you so often that I feel like I know you.”
