“CeCe’s good. Why doesn’t she play with y’all all the time?” Vi asked.

Cory smirked. “Because she’d rather play with Alexis.”

Cat laughed. “Can you blame her?”

“Oh my, your heart is still beating,” Cory said to Cat.

“Sister,” Cat said, which sounded like a warning.

Cory held up both hands and nodded. “Thanks for coming, Elena. It was nice to have you here cheering for us.”

“It was fun,” Elena said. “It was nice to meet you, Vi.”

“You, too.”

Cat and Elena turned to walk out and Elena bumped her shoulder against Cat’s. “There was so much going on in that little meet and greet.”

Cat giggled. “I know. Cory is taking Vi back to the bar at The Liquor Box. I think this enemy situation will soon be resolved.”

Elena chuckled. “Was there really an enemy thing going on in the first place?”

“Maybe in Vi’s mind, but not in Cory’s.”

“Hey!” Elena exclaimed as they reached the door to leave the fitness center. “We were supposed to be looking for someone for you.”

“And you,” Cat said, opening the door.

Elena walked through the open door. “I’m not ready for that. I’m happy with my books and Aqua.”

“I’m not ready either.”

“What about your dream?”

“It was only because you were talking about the lake. I haven’t had it again.”

“It could happen,” Elena softly said. “You can feel that with someone.”

“You can, too.”

Elena put her arm through Cat’s as they walked to her car. “I’ve got you. That’s all I need for now.”

Cat smiled over at her and nodded. Elena drove them back to Cat’s house and pulled into the driveway.

Cat turned to look at Elena. “Would you like to come in for a while? I’m always at your place, but you’ve only been to mine once.”

“Sure.” Elena smiled and turned off the car.

“I don’t have a fancy sapphic study to hang out in, but I do have wine,” Cat said as they walked through the front door.

Elena chuckled. “If you had a fancy sapphic study you wouldn’t want to hang out in mine.”

Cat raised her eyebrows. “I don’t come over just for the books.” She went into the kitchen and took a bottle of wine out of the refrigerator.

“Glasses?” Elena asked.

Cat pointed to a cabinet and Elena retrieved two wine glasses.

“Let’s go in here,” Cat said, leading them into the living room.
