Cat gasped. “Here?”
“Yes!”
“I’d love that,” Cat said.
“Lauren has some ideas on the book signing,” Tara said.
“Why don’t y’all come out to Lovers Landing and we can have a planning session,” Krista said. “You know, it’s a magical place. Just look what it did for your sisters.”
“Oh, come on,” Tara said, turning to Krista. “You think everyone falls in love at your lake resort. Don’t you think they were already on their way when they came to see you?”
“It is magical,” Krista said defensively. “You fell in love with Lauren there.”
Tara scoffed. “We can meet at our home. It’s on the lake and has a much better view.”
Elena couldn’t believe this back and forth between these two women. She stole a look at Cat and could see her delight as well.
“Uh, well,” Cat stammered.
Tara and Krista turned to them and grinned.
“We do this all the time,” Krista explained. “She knows if it wasn’t for me she wouldn’t be living her happily ever after.”
“And she likes to take credit for every couple falling in love,” Tara deadpanned.
“It’s what I do.” Krista shrugged.
Elena and Cat both chuckled.
“Don’t scare them,” Tara said. “Please, I’d love for you to come to the lake and meet with Lauren. She has some good ideas.”
Cat smiled. “I’d be glad to. Thank you for the opportunity.”
“Elena, I hope you’ll join us,” Tara said.
“Are you sure?” Elena asked, looking at Cat.
Cat nodded. “Yes, you know this bookstore as well as I do.”
“Great. I’ll get your contact info from Krista and we’ll text you,” Tara said to Cat.
“Okay.”
“We’re going to look around and see if we can surprise our wives with new books,” Krista said.
“Let me know if you need any help.”
Krista and Tara walked further into the store and began to browse the shelves.
“Can you believe this? You’re going to be hosting Tara Holloway’s book signing! I’m so proud of you!” Elena said, squeezing Cat’s hand.
Cat’s face was lit with excitement. “You’ve got to help me.”
“Me?”
“Yes, I don’t want to freak out. You keep me calm, Elena.”
Elena smiled. “I’ll be right beside you.”
