Alberto chuckled. “That’s the idea, maybe you won’t buy as many things.”

“Are you sure?” Vi gazed at Cory.

She nodded. “Enjoy a little mother-daughter time.”

“I’ll tell you what,” Vi said. “You do your store stuff, Mom and I will do our shopping, then we can all meet for lunch and go to the gallery together.”

They all agreed and as Cory got up to take the cinnamon rolls out of the oven, her phone rang. “Can you see who that is, babe?”

Vi picked up the phone. “It’s CeCe,” she said, connecting the call. “Hey, CeCe, Cory’s making breakfast. Just a sec.”

“Put her on speaker,” Cory said.

“You’re on speaker, CeCe.”

“Vi’s parents are sitting right here,” Cory warned her.

CeCe laughed on the other end of the call. “I’m not the one you have to worry about. You’re the one with the colorful language. Hey, we want Josie and Alberto to come to Sunday lunch tomorrow.”

Josie and Alberto shared a look.

“We have to be back tomorrow afternoon,” Alberto said.

“Don’t tell me, you’re working tomorrow evening,” Vi said, exasperated.

“No, I am not,” Alberto stated. “I’m keeping your favorite nephews while their parents go out of town.”

“Oh,” Vi said curtly. “Sorry, Dad.”

“No problem. Let’s change Sunday lunch to Saturday supper,” CeCe said.

“You don’t have to do that,” Vi said.

“We want to. Don’t try to get out of it now, Vi. Mom can’t wait to see you, and your folks will be a bonus. You and Cory will be on the hotseat!” CeCe’s laughter echoed from the phone.

“Why does she seem to be getting such joy from this?” Vi asked Cory.

“Because she’s my mean little sister!” Cory said loudly.

“Have a fun day,” CeCe said. “I’ll text you the details after I talk to Mom and Cat. Bye.”

Josie chuckled. “You must have had a lot of fun growing up with two little sisters.”

“Probably about as much fun as Vi did growing up with little brothers. They are annoying,” Cory said.

“I couldn’t agree more.”

Josie and Alberto both laughed.

“What do you think?” Vi asked as she walked out of the fitting room.

“You look beautiful, but when will you wear that dress?” Josie asked.

“Cory and I get dressed up for dates some nights and I could wear it to an opening at the gallery.”

“Let me buy it for you,” Josie said.
