CeCe smiled. “Look, it’s been a long time since Cory has dated anyone.”

Vi nodded. “I know. It’s the same for me.”

“Come on back,” CeCe said. “Let’s knock my sister’s socks off when she sees you.”

“That’s exactly the look I’m going for.” Vi smiled. She couldn’t wait to see Cory in those heels. Only this time she wouldn’t be in her workout clothes.

Once she was in CeCe’s chair with the cape around her, Vi looked into the mirror and saw Cat standing next to CeCe.

“Hi, Cat.”

“Hi.”

CeCe began styling Vi’s hair and said, “Sit still for me.”

Vi stared at them both for a moment. “Uh oh. Are y’all ganging up on me to make sure I treat your sister right?”

“Do we need to?” Cat asked. “You know Cory is our big sister and has spent most of her life taking care of us whether we needed her to or not.”

CeCe and Cat both chuckled.

“I happen to think that Cory is the most incredible person I’ve ever met.”

“Really?” Cat said.

“Wouldn’t you two agree with me?” Vi asked, trying not to move.

CeCe sectioned off Vi’s hair and several strands fell over her eyes. “I agree that Cory is a wonderful person,” CeCe said.

“You don’t have to worry about Cory being with me. I’ve fallen in love with her and can’t wait to tell her,” Vi said.

CeCe pulled up the strands of hair covering Vi’s eyes and swept them on top of her head. When she looked into the mirror again, Vi saw Cory standing next to CeCe and Cat with her mouth hanging open.

“Oh no!” Vi said, her eyes widening. “This isn’t how I envisioned this happening. But…”

Cory closed her mouth and gave Vi the most beautiful smile.

“Can you please come around here?” Vi asked desperately.

Cory walked around the chair and Vi reached for her hands. “You told me that your heart had been waiting for me. Well, my heart has been falling in love with you since the first time we met. I tried to keep it from happening, but my heart is full of love for you, Cory Sloan. I can’t keep these feelings inside any longer. I’m in love with you, Corrine,” Vi said. “Can I move?” she added dramatically.

“Yes,” CeCe said. “You can move.”

Vi stood up and took Cory’s face in her hands. “I love you.”

“Violet,” Cory whispered.

“Tell her!” Cat shouted.

Vi looked at Cat then back at Cory.

“This isn’t exactly how I pictured this either,” Cory said.

“She came in here the day after your date proclaiming her love for you at the top of her lungs,” Cat said.

“Yeah, she did!” CeCe added with a laugh.

Cory nodded. “I love you, Violet, so very much.”
