“Okay,” CeCe said, not bothering to put her bag down.
Cory led them through the opening to Cat’s bookstore and looked from her right to her left until she spotted Cat at the front of the store.
“Cat,” Cory said. “Sisters meeting, now.”
Cat looked up from what she was doing and walked towards her sisters. “Uh, I’m the only one here. Jessica won’t be in until later.”
Cory sighed loudly. “Okay, we can talk here.”
“Come over to the reading nook,” Cat said. “What’s wrong?”
CeCe and Cat both looked at Cory with concern as they each sat in one of the comfy chairs. Cory paced in front of them then stopped. She felt the biggest smile blossom on her face.
“Uh oh,” CeCe said. “You went out with Vi yesterday, didn’t you?”
Cory nodded. “We had the best day!” she exclaimed.
“So you’re not battling Vi any longer?” Cat asked with a grin.
Cory looked at her sisters then proclaimed, “I am so in love with Violet Valdez!”
“Wow! That’s wonderful and fast! I had to figure out I was good enough for Alexis, but not my big sister. She’s a true lesbian!” CeCe said, jumping up to hug her sister.
“Ha ha,” Cory deadpanned.
“Aw, I’m so glad,” Cat said, taking her turn to hug Cory.
“Talk about a turnaround,” CeCe said, sitting back down.
“Not really,” Cory said, sitting on the ottoman across from them. “While I’ve been trying to get Vi to see me as her friend, she was trying to keep me as her enemy, but it didn’t work. We’ve had a connection since the first time she walked into The Liquor Box. But the first time she kissed me, I knew. She’s the woman my heart has been waiting for.”
“I’m assuming she feels the same way?” Cat asked.
Cory giggled. “She said she didn’t have to hold her feelings back any longer.”
“Oh my God, CeCe, did you hear her? She giggled,” Cat said, laughing. “Cory Sloan doesn’t giggle.”
“Did all this happen at Lovers Landing?” CeCe asked. “That was a magical place for Alexis and me, but we had to wait and be sure it was our hearts and not something else.” CeCe wiggled her eyebrows.
Cory smirked. “Krista and Melanie made us a picnic and let us use the private beach.”
“I know exactly where you’re talking about. That’s where Alexis and I spent our first night together.”
“I tried to slow down and not get ahead of myself, but all the emotions came out. I thought I may have messed up, but on the way back to Vi’s place she said she knew what she wanted and our time is now,” Cory said. “Oh, and she added that our time is perfect.”
“Fuck, Cory. How romantic!” CeCe said.
“I knew she had a romantic streak. She buys sapphic romances from me,” Cat said.
Cory chuckled. “She mentioned she was one of your best customers. You’ll never guess what else we did on the beach.”
“Uh, we don’t need those details,” Cat said.
“I’m not talking about that!” Cory exclaimed. “We danced on the beach. Vi knows how to salsa.”
CeCe gasped. “No way! That is so romantic. You have someone to dance with now.”
“I know!” Cory grinned.
