“That should tell you something. She convinced me to stock it.”

Vi took a sip of her beer. “I want to marry her,” she blurted.

“Oh!” Talia said, taking a long drink. “Maybe you should ask her.”

Vi scoffed. “I want to, but…”

“But?”

“I want it to be special because she’s such an incredible person,” Vi said.

“Hmm, I have a feeling you’ve figured something out,” Talia said, giving Vi a big smile.

Vi returned her smile.

“I know you’ll be good to her or you’ll have to answer to me and her sisters,” Talia said playfully.

“I’ll be good to her because I love her and can’t imagine my life without her,” Vi promised.

“Then do you care to tell me what you have in mind?”

Vi took a drink from her beer and smiled.

“What a day,” Cory said, taking the money out of the register. “Our new home is waiting. All the furniture is arranged. We still have boxes to unload, but do we get to spend our first night there tonight? Please.”

Vi chuckled. “You go lock the back door and maybe you’ll get your wish.”

Cory gave her a look and Vi could feel her heart start to speed up. She took a deep breath as she watched Cory walk to the back of the store.

Vi glanced out the front windows and smiled. She locked the front door and took her phone from her back pocket. Music began to play and Cory walked towards her.

“Why are all our friends standing outside and looking in the windows?” Cory asked.

“Let’s give them a show,” Vi said, holding up her arms. “Dance with me.”

Cory grinned and walked into Vi’s arms. They stepped and spun, doing their favorite salsa.

Vi bent Cory back as the music ended. When she pulled her back up she slid down Cory’s body, landing on one knee.

Cory gasped and her mouth flew open in surprise.

“Before we let our friends and family in to celebrate with us I need to ask you something,” Vi said, holding Cory’s hand.

“Celebrate with us, such cockiness.”

“I’m not cocky. I’m sure. When I walked into this store all those months ago, I was standing right here and looked into the most beautiful blue eyes I’d ever seen. I know we are meant to be together. We have found each other at the perfect time to live our perfect love. You have given me a life I couldn’t even dream about because I didn’t think it was possible. Everything with you is possible, my love. Corrine Sloan, will you marry me?”

Vi could see tears in Cory’s eyes. “Oh babe, I don’t mean to make you cry.”

Cory smiled. “These are happy tears. Yes, Violet, I will marry you.”

Vi stood and met Cory’s lips eagerly. “I love you so much.”

Their family and friends were beating on the windows and cheering.

“Oh wait,” Vi said. “I almost forgot.” She reached into her pocket and produced the most beautiful sapphire and diamond engagement ring. She slid it on Cory’s finger and looked into those clear blue eyes that still mesmerized her.
