Alexis tapped on her steering wheel to the music playing through the speakers as she waited at the stoplight. She smiled as her eyes were on the car in front of her, but she was thinking about CeCe. Her eyes roamed until she looked into the rearview mirror. She’d taken a little extra time with her hair and soft curls fell just to her shoulders.

A smile curled the corners of her mouth. “When was the last time I fussed with my hair to impress a woman?” She chuckled, knowing it had been a long time.

As the light changed and she headed towards CeCe’s house, her thoughts drifted to last night. Something changed between them when they got to CeCe’s last night. Well, changed wasn’t really the right word, perhaps strengthened or deepened was more accurate.

After Alexis's talk with Christine, she had no intention of backing away from CeCe. She could feel CeCe give herself to Alexis last night and in return Alexis's heart had split wide open. There was no fear, which had been her earlier reaction. She was falling for CeCe and couldn’t wait to see where that took them.

It didn’t matter how things went at the party tonight. She was sure her friends would love CeCe, but if they didn’t, oh well. After last night, Alexis knew where she and CeCe belonged. Together.

She may not be afraid, but it was still overwhelming. Her heart had been closed off for so long, she needed to ease into this idea of love.

They were in no hurry. All Alexis wanted to do was be with CeCe because when they were together they were both happy. Who wouldn’t want to be happy?

She pulled into CeCe’s driveway and stopped the car. One more check in the mirror then she grabbed her bag from the front seat and went to pick up her date.

“Hey!” CeCe said, opening the front door.

“Cecilia,” Alexis said with wonder in her voice. “You look amazing.”

“Thank you.” CeCe stepped out of the way so Alexis could come inside. “I need you to be on your best behavior tonight. Just because I’m wearing a dress does not mean you’re supposed to slide your hands under it.”

Alexis chuckled. “I will control myself until we get home.”

“This dress isn’t too much is it?” CeCe suddenly asked, sounding hesitant.

Alexis scoffed. “I’ll say it again. You look amazing. Are you ready to go?”

“Hold it, Lex!” CeCe exclaimed. “Give me a moment to appreciate how gorgeous my girlfriend looks in those jeans.” CeCe walked around Alexis. “Mmm, mmm, mmm. Would you look at those arms, tempting me in that sleeveless top.” When she stopped in front of Alexis, CeCe gasped. “You curled your hair!”

“I wanted to look nice for you.” It was Alexis's turn to give CeCe a shy smile, but she was thrilled CeCe noticed.

“Aww, Lex. You’re beautiful anytime I look at you.” CeCe leaned in and pressed their lips together in a sweet kiss. “Now I’m ready to go.”

They walked to the car and Alexis drove them to the party. When she pulled to the curb at a house where the driveway was full of cars and several more were parked on the street, CeCe said, “Hey, this isn’t far from your house.”

“That’s right,” Alexis replied. “When Lana came to my house soon after I bought it, she liked the neighborhood so much she and Michael bought this place.”

Alexis hurried out of the car and walked around to open CeCe’s door.

“Babe, you didn’t have to do that,” CeCe said, taking Alexis's hand.

“I wanted to.”

As they walked up to the front door, Alexis squeezed CeCe’s hand. “Are you nervous?”

“I’m surprisingly not. I’m excited.”

“Oh good.” Alexis smiled over at her.

“It’s because of this,” CeCe said, holding their clasped hands up and kissing the back of Alexis's hand.

“I’ll be right beside you all night long,” Alexis promised.

“Oh, honey. We’ll be fine,” CeCe said, leaning over and kissing Alexis on the cheek.

“Oh my!” a woman said, opening the front door.
