“Your house feels like a home,” Alexis said earnestly. “Maybe if you were here more often my house would feel like that, too.”

Alexis watched as shock covered CeCe’s face. She was the one usually surprised by CeCe’s antics, but she meant what she said. Waking up in CeCe’s arms that morning gave Alexis the feeling of home. She’d never had that in this house. It was where she lived, but it never felt like a home. It was a place, but it felt like more than that this morning.

“You’re not saying anything.” Alexis looked at CeCe and felt her stomach drop. Had she said something wrong?

“Every time I think I know you, Lex, you do something that surprises me,” CeCe confessed.

“Surprise in a good way?”

CeCe chuckled. “Yes, in a good way!”

“Well, it still surprises the hell out of me every time you call me Lex and I like it.” Alexis grinned.

CeCe leaned over and cupped Alexis's cheek. “I call you that because no one else does. It’s my name for you.”

“I know.” Alexis leaned into CeCe’s touch.

“I realize that I am the rule breaker, not you. I don’t want you to be late for work,” CeCe said, standing up and taking their bowls to the sink.

Alex grabbed their coffee cups and followed CeCe. She reached around and set the cups in the sink, trapping CeCe against it. She pulled CeCe’s hair back and kissed her neck. CeCe leaned back, giving her better access.

“Thank you for breakfast,” Alexis whispered as she kissed just below CeCe’s ear.

“Mmm, maybe we can do it again sometime,” CeCe mumbled, stroking the side of Alexis's face.

Alexis turned CeCe around and their lips crashed together in a passionate kiss. Their tongues touched, immediately followed by moans. Their arms tightened around each other as the kiss continued to flame.

“We have to stop,” CeCe said breathlessly, pulling her lips from Alexis’s “You can’t be late the first time I stay over.”

Alexis smiled. “Oh, baby. I won’t be late.”

“I know you won’t.” CeCe wiggled out of Alexis's arms and got her things together.

Alexis laughed. “You do realize I’m the boss, right?”

CeCe stopped and stared at her. “What do you mean?”

“I have plenty of time to take you home and make it to the hospital for rounds before my first appointment,” Alexis explained.

“Please tell me you are not one of those doctors who make their patients wait forever.”

“I am not. There will always be a good reason if one of my patients has to wait,” Alexis said.

“Good to know,” CeCe said, walking toward the door to the garage.

“Wait!” Alexis exclaimed and hurriedly put her computer in her bag. She walked over to CeCe and kissed her softly on the lips. “I want a goodbye kiss.”

CeCe leaned in and kissed her again. “One for the road.” She winked and walked out the door to the car.

Alexis closed the patient files she’d been working on and checked her schedule for tomorrow.

“That was your last patient,” Donna said, walking into Alexis's office. “Here are the files you’ll want in the morning.”

“Thanks, Donna.”

“Now, how did the date go last night?” she asked, tapping her foot nervously.
