“Would you go with me to a small get-together at my friend's house?”

Surprise covered CeCe’s face. “Really?”

“Yes, really. One of the doctors at the clinic also happens to be a friend. His wife loves to throw informal parties with drinks and snacks.” Alexis gave CeCe a shaky smile. What was wrong with her? She knew CeCe in the most intimate of ways, yet she was nervous to ask her to meet her friends.

“Are these your friends as well as colleagues?” CeCe asked.

“Most of them are.” Alexis nodded.

“So it would be like meeting the family for the first time,” CeCe said.

“I guess you could look at it that way, but we don’t have to go if you don’t want to,” Alexis said.

“Oh so now you’re taking back the invitation?”

“No!” Alexis said with a frustrated sigh. “I want you to go with me. I want you to meet them. They know I’ve been seeing someone and they want to meet you.”

CeCe furrowed her brow. “You’re nervous about this. Why, babe?” CeCe’s face fell. “Oh, no! Are you afraid I’ll embarrass you?”

“What? No! You won’t embarrass me. If anything I’ll embarrass you.”

“Are you sure?”

Alexis tilted her head. “Yes, I’m sure. They’re going to love you and wonder how I managed to charm you into coming with me.”

CeCe raised one brow. “Oh, you do have charms, Lex.”

“Mmm, so do you,” Alexis said as she felt a familiar warmth spread through her body. CeCe could make her melt with that look. “Will you go with me?”

“You want to take me to meet your friends and colleagues, huh. That makes me think your heart may be coming around.”

Alexis stared into CeCe’s eyes. If only CeCe knew what’s happening in my heart. “Is that a yes?”

CeCe nodded. “Yes, Lex. I’d love to go with you.”

Alexis let out a relieved breath then leaned over and kissed CeCe tenderly.

“Mmm, if you keep kissing me like that you might get lucky tonight.”

“I’m already lucky,” Alexis whispered and brought their lips together again.

CeCe looked back at the moon with her arm still around Alexis.

“Oh wait, I almost forgot,” Alexis said, walking back over to the table. She grabbed her phone and in a couple of moments music began to play.

“Dancing, too?” CeCe smiled.

“I didn’t realize how much I like to dance,” Alexis said, taking CeCe in her arms. “Well, how much I like dancing with you.”

CeCe tightened her arms around Alexis's shoulders. “Maybe the next time you come by the salon we’ll add dancing to our back room fun.”

Alexis stared into CeCe’s eyes. “Would you come home with me tonight?”

CeCe raised her brows. “Why the serious look?”

Alexis smiled but didn’t say anything.

“We could’ve simply ended up at your house and you wouldn’t have to ask,” CeCe said.
