“That would be once.”

“What about the other night when you had drinks at the happy hour bar?”

“How do you know about that? You weren’t even here,” CeCe replied.

“Taylor told me you took a bottle of wine to go and she was pretty sure you two were headed to your back room,” Cory explained.

“I’ll pay for the wine,” CeCe said sarcastically.

Cory smiled. “I don’t care about the wine. So what happened?”

“Nothing. We did come back here and have a glass of wine. Cat came over as well.”

Cory once again narrowed her gaze. “You mean Cat interrupted you and the hot doc.”

“Hot doc, really! I’ll have to say something to Taylor,” CeCe said, trying to deflect Cory’s intrusive gaze.

“I’ve seen the two of you together, CeCe, and felt the heat radiating from you both. I know you don’t date your clients, but you may want to make an exception. How long has it been since you went on a date?”

“Oh, I don’t know, Cory. How long has it been for you?” CeCe said defensively.

“Girls, girls, we’re all friends here,” Cat said, walking up. “And in this case, sisters, too.” She chuckled.

“What do you want?” CeCe and Cory both said, turning to their little sister.

“Whoa!” Cat exclaimed, holding her hands in front of her.

“Sorry,” CeCe mumbled.

“I was just telling our sister that maybe she should go out with Dr. Client. The sex oozes off of them,” Cory explained to Cat.

“Uh, gross, Cory,” Cat said, making an unpleasant face. “But she’s not wrong.”

“What! Not you, too!” CeCe exclaimed.

“All I’m saying is you and Alexis do have a certain chemistry. I felt like I was interrupting something the other night,” Cat said.

CeCe looked from one sister to the other. “Look, I like Alexis. We have fun flirting and we both like wine, but that’s it. Please don’t invent something that’s not there. She is so far out of my league—”

“No she’s not,” Cat said, cutting CeCe off. “She’d be lucky to be with you.”

“Hell yes, she would,” Cory added.

CeCe smiled at her sisters. They had always had each other's backs no matter what.

“Alexis wants you, CeCe. I could tell by the way she looked at you the other night,” Cat said.

“I’m telling you both, it’s playful flirting,” CeCe declared. She couldn’t help thinking back to the other night when they were about to kiss. There was nothing playful about that.

“I promise we will not embarrass you or the doc tonight,” Cory stated, holding up her hands.

“Thanks. I appreciate that.”

“Do you want to ride with me?” Cat asked CeCe.

“No, I’m going to run home and change. I have a perm this afternoon and I don’t want to be all smelly.”

“You mean perm smelly, not sweet CeCe smelly,” Cat teased.
