Big smiles grew on both Erin and Desi’s faces at the mention of their daughter.

“Lana didn’t mention you would be here tonight,” Alexis said.

“We weren’t sure if we could make it, but our friends offered to babysit,” Erin said. “CeCe, I saw that the spa day is coming up soon for the oncology department.”

“It is. We have several special things planned for the women,” CeCe said.

“You’re the one who does the special event for my patients and nurses?” Dawn asked as she and Tonya joined them in the kitchen.

“She plans and organizes the entire event,” Erin said.

“Thank you so much for doing that! I’m the oncologist at our clinic and my patients love the event! I thought the hospital did it for them. How did I not know it was you!”

“Oh no,” Erin said. “CeCe came to us a few years ago with the idea and ran with it.”

“It isn’t just me. I have a lot of help,” CeCe explained. She glanced over at Alexis and her face was full of delight. It made CeCe’s heart skip a beat to see that look in Alexis's eyes.

“Your happiness is showing, Doc,” Erin said to Alexis quietly as they both looked on while the other women asked CeCe about the day.

“CeCe Sloan is amazing. I don’t know how in the world I got her to give me a chance, but I’m so glad she did.”

“Desi knew it was serious when CeCe told her she made you get a new hairstylist,” Erin said. “She had no idea it was you!”

“She did. The woman has boundaries and expects you to respect them.”

“Hmm, that sounds like someone else I know. I’d love to hear that story.” Erin chuckled.

“Everyone come in here and get something to eat,” Michael said, walking in from the backyard.

Alexis grinned and shrugged.

After Alexis introduced CeCe to the guys it didn’t take long for her to have them laughing.

Alexis looked on and smiled. If CeCe was nervous or apprehensive it didn’t show. Occasionally, she’d look Alexis's way, smile then nod so Alexis knew she was okay. They didn’t stay away from each other long. CeCe would move towards her or Alexis would walk over and grab her hand.

“This has been so much fun, babe,” CeCe said walking up to Alexis. “Your friends are so nice.”

“Don’t forget how charming you are, Cecilia. You bring out the best in people,” Alexis replied.

“I do? Is that what I’ve done with you?”

“You’ve brought out a part of me I didn’t even know about. A very good part,” Alexis said.

CeCe peeked around them then leaned in and kissed Alexis softly. “I like all the parts of you, Lex. I want it all.”

Alexis smiled and took a deep breath. Her heart did that flutter-thing again that CeCe seemed to make it do whenever she felt like it.

“I need water. Do you want a glass?” CeCe asked.

“I can get it for you,” Alexis protested.

“No, you’ve been getting me food and wine all night. It’s my turn. I’ll be right back.”

Alexis watched CeCe walk away and smiled. CeCe turned and winked at her as she went into the kitchen.

“How about that story?” Erin said, sidling up next to Alexis.
