After a few minutes, I pull out and lay her back on the bed. “Wait here, Angel.”

She hasn’t moved at all when I return a few moments later with a warm cloth to clean her up.“That was fucking amazing, baby.”

She rolls onto her side, hands tucked under her head, and a satisfied glaze sheens her eyes. “Possibly mind-blowing.”

“Yeah?” I chuckle and kiss her forehead. “So, you wouldn’t object to a repeat performance of that sometime.”

She checks the non-existent watch on her wrist. “Hm, give me about thirty minutes to recover, yeah?”

Half an hour later, I’m not inside her again, much to my disappointment. Instead, Felicity’s sitting at the kitchen counter dressed in my jersey and nothing else. I’m making waffles because she said she wanted them, and I’m so whipped for her I slipped out in the middle of the night to grab fresh eggs and syrup.

Watching with fascination, she proceeds to take the biggest bite I’ve ever seen, and my dick rises when her tongue peeks out and sweeps the trailing syrup from her bottom lip.

“Keep doing that, Angel, and those waffles will be cold before you even have time to finish them,” I say as I walk around to where she’s seated and scoot her up, sitting her back down on my lap.I take a bite of food directly from her fork and smile at her around my mouthful. The way she brings me to life.

After these past couple of weeks, I just want to be close to her. Especially as I leave the day after next for another away series.“How was work?”

There’s a proud look in her eyes. “I made a decision today.”

I kiss her jaw. “Oh yeah?”

“Mm-hmm, I’ve decided to sit for the bar exams to give myself a shot at becoming a lawyer.”

“Are you kidding me? Felicity, that’s fucking amazing. God damn, I’m so fucking proud of you.” And I am. I’ve never been so proud of anything or anyone in my life.

“It’s the first step in a long process, but I figure I have to start sometime, right?”

“Does this mean I get to see you in suits, heels, and curly wigs?”

She belly laughs. “That’s kind of old-fashioned now, but if you insist, I’m sure I can wear one around the apartment.”

I reach down and lightly squeeze her ass. “That’s an order, Ms. Thompson.” Each time I say her surname it makes me want to change it to mine as soon as possible.

A few beats pass before Felicity turns to me; a sobering look across her face. “Will you start seeing Ben again? I know you’ve straightened things out with Zach, and you have me and your family, but I really think talking everything through with him would be good.”

Placing a kiss to her shoulder, I reassure her. “I see him tomorrow afternoon right after practice, and I need to start being totally open with him. I’ve held a lot back from you and everyone else about the way I sought the comfort of women, buried myself in the gym, and at times drank myself stupid to numb the pain, but I know I won’t go back there now. Adam came to talk to me earlier, and he told me how much I’ve done for him.” My voice cracks, thick with emotion.

Offering me her last piece of waffle, I lean forward and take it. “He’s proud of you. We all are.”

“I’m so lucky to have you.”

“Not lucky, Jon. This, everything you have, the people around you. You deserve it.” She pauses and strokes my cheek with her thumb, swallowing me whole with her bright-emerald eyes. “And I’m one of those people who loves you. I love you so much. You’ve shown me what relationships can be like, shown me that I can follow my dreams, and that a love like this isn’t limited to fiction. You are my living and breathing fairytale.”

I slant my mouth across hers, and I kiss her. I kiss her with every part of me. I kiss her like she’s my life source and I’m hers, and I don’t stop until we break apart, both of our chests heaving as we gasp for air.“You’re it for me, Angel. Beyond you, there’s nothing else.”

“Even if I can’t give you children? I mean, technically I could, but at thirty-nine, I’m not sure I could do it again.”

Tucking away a lock of hair from her messy bun, I lean closer until my lips brush her ear and I smile as I watch her skin react to the caress of my breath. “Just in case you didn’t hear me the first time, I’ll say it again. You’re it for me, Angel. Beyond you, there’s nothing else.”

EPILOGUE

FELICITY - FOUR MONTHS LATER

“For the hundredth time, I’m not telling you. These lips are firmly sealed.” Jon makes a zipping motion across his mouth.

I sit back in my seat, considerably annoyed I haven’t managed to break him over the last twenty-four hours since he told me I wouldn’t be going to work for the next week. Apparently, no amount of blow jobs, sex, private dances, or even promising to allow Miley Cyrus on in the car for the rest of time will crack this man.

Since then, I’ve tried to break Kate, Darcy, Jack, Adam, Zach, Jensen, and the rest of the team, but they’re all traitors, refusing to budge an inch. They’re all Team Jon, and that has been duly noted by me. I thought at least Adam would be on my side. He’s giving Kate competition for best friend status, and over the last few months, I have seen more and more of him as he attends games with us in the box. He even comes over for dinner at our apartment at least once a week. Adam’s doing great, and this has helped Jon so much. Seeing happiness flood their lives is nothing short of what both these amazing men deserve.
