"Well, Noah definitely likes to scare people, huh?"

I giggle at her words as she walks over to the bed, and runs her fingers through his hair.

Alex grunts. "You're really here?" He tightens his arms around me, unwilling to let me get up to greet his cousin, who grins knowingly. Since yesterday, he’s only let me stand when I needed the bathroom.

I smile as Kennedy shrugs, some strands of her black hair falling over her face. "Your girl here rang me yesterday on her way here and kept me up to date. Of course, I'm here, Alex. He may be my second cousin, but I'm still his auntie."

I grin wide, and I’m about to speak, loving that she's come all this way for Noah, when the door opens again, and I wince. Doc freezes in the doorway, seeing Kennedy, who looks at him for five seconds before turning back to Noah.

"So, exactly how did he fall?" she asks like Doc isn't staring at her, checking her from head to toe, shocked that she's here.

Maybe he thinks he's seeing a ghost?

Alex clears his throat. "Lola decided she wanted to apologize."

Kennedy looks at him in shock, "Apologize for what?"

I clear my throat, but it is Doc who speaks as he stands at the foot of the bed, staring at her like she's about to disappear, and states, "She started an insurrection with the parents at the school Quinn worked, accusing her of using a child to get a patched brother, and how she's been sleeping with their partners." Kennedy's eyes harden the more Doc talks. He clears his throat. "She then proceeded to threaten the school after making the same complaint. She told Ms. Holden that if she didn't fire Quinn, then she'd pull the club’s money from the sponsorship funds. She’s also the reason Noah is here because she blocked Breaker’s view of him while he was playing."

Kennedy growls and takes her phone out, making me wince. She places the device to her ear. She's quiet for a few seconds as Alex's hands continue to soothe me, and then she speaks, "Lola Marie Carter. In an hour, I want your ass down in the reception area of the hospital. You and I need to talk." I hear Lola squeal, clearly celebrating, making Alex shake his head, before Kennedy growls, "You can stop celebrating. How dare you ruin Quinn's career over a man who never wanted you!" She hangs up then looks at me, and says, "I'll deal with her."

I give her a smile as Doc clears his throat. "Ken, can we…."

She shakes her head as she runs her fingers through Noah's hair and states, "I'm here for Noah, not you, Doc." His jaw ticks at the use of his road name. "I'm only here for a few days, but then I need to get back to my life and the guy I'm seeing." Docs face reddens. "I don't need any drama, so its best you stay clear."

I flinch, seeing the fury on Doc's face before he looks our way. I can tell he’s trying to rein in his anger. Forcing a calmness, he states, "I'll be back in half an hour to check his wound. He should, hopefully, be awake by then."

We nod before he moves, but instead of leaving, he gets close up behind Ken, and I bite my lip to stop my smile.

The man thought he was doing what was right despite knowing he was being used, which is why a part of me believes that evil woman, Prue, has something on him or a loved one. That’s the only reason for him not to question her. It's just a shame Kennedy didn't see it that way, her hurt taking over, not that I blame her. Doc, the ass made her the other woman.

He presses his lips to the side of her neck, making her shiver, then stiffen. Alex chuckles quietly instead of flying off the handle like I thought he would.

"You're mine, Pixie. You know it, and I know it. This man, he doesn't stand a fucking chance, because I own that heart like you own mine."

He kisses her neck again, taking a deep breath before leaving.

She looks our way and points, stating, "Hush, you two."

We laugh as Noah sits up, blinks his eyes which light up at the sight of Ken, and he says, "Auntie Ken," making me grin.

I place my face in Alex's neck, smiling, knowing this week will be fun.

I'm finally happy…. I just hope I don't let my fear take over again.

As if feeling my worries, Alex kisses my head and whispers, "I love you, Goldie," making everything right in my world.

Breaker – One Week Later

I groan, stretching after finally finishing the paperwork from the club, cracking my neck from side to side.

Noah is spending the night with Kennedy. She's been here longer than she thought, my boy getting upset each time she mentions leaving, putting off her departure, so tonight is their goodbye night, her job needing her back in two days. Since Ken was back, Doc had taken the week off work despite having medical consults, but the man doesn't give a shit. He's spent the week at the club or here at my house, all up in Kennedy's business, and if her phone rings, he's hovering.

I can admit to helping him with her whereabouts; before Ken showed up, he pulled me in for a chat. We've been strained since he made Prue his old lady. He's explained his reasoning, and while I don't agree with how he went about it, I understand. I'd probably make the same decisions as he had.

When it comes to the ones we love, our brains stop working.
