I nodded, snuggling into my pillow.

“Good.” He smiled. “I wish I could hold you right now. That was intense.”

“Me too. A good intense, though.”

“Very good intense.” He lay on his side, his smile soft and his expression a mix of sleepy and satisfied. “I just want to roll over and take a nap, but I have to go to work.”

“When do you need to leave?”

“About twenty minutes.”

“Is there anything special going on tonight?”

It felt weird to be talking about his job after what we’d just done, but I was grateful for the distraction.

Now that the afterglow had faded, my old reservations were coming back in full force, and my mind was already starting to spin with a crush of thoughts.

“Not tonight. Just the usual Friday stuff.”

“So, all the people who work at the club are male?”

He nodded.

“And I’m guessing your…customers are women?”

“For the most part. We always have a few guys who show up, but it’s mostly women unless it’s an LGBT night or an event.”

Jealousy rose in my chest at the thought of River dancing for a crowd of screaming women.

Annoyed at my thoughts, I pasted on a smile. “I should let you get to work.”

“Yeah, okay.” He looked at me critically. “How do you feel?”

“Fine. Warm.”

He paused like he wanted to say more.

“Have a good shift.” I kept my voice light, and hopefully breezy. I wasn’t ready to talk about what we’d just done. Not while I was still naked and sticky from my cum.

“Thanks.” He sat up. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow.”

He paused again, but ended the video call without saying anything more.

Dropping my phone on the bed, I rolled over and sat up. Time to clean up and try to focus on something mindless until I was tired enough to go to bed.

Hopefully the distraction would stop me from spending the next few hours obsessing and analyzing every detail of our phone encounter.

RIVER

“You’re a million miles away,” Jett said, startling me out of the daze I’d fallen into.

“Huh?” I blinked at him. How long had he been standing in front of me? “Sorry, did you say something?”

Concern crossed his features. “I said you’re a million miles away.”
