I grunted, grabbing hold of his belt to keep him on his feet as he swayed. “You okay?”
“Yeah. We end up against walls a lot.”
“We do.” Carefully, I pushed him off me and got him vertical again.
“I want to fuck you against a wall.”
I missed my step and rolled my ankle. “Shit!”
“You okay?” Noah’s face filled with concern, but in his drunken state, he kind of looked like a sad puppy.
“Fine. Just stepped wrong.” Ignoring the twinge in my ankle, I slid under his arm again. “Not too much farther.”
“What was I saying?” he asked loudly. “Oh yeah. I really wanna fuck you against a wall.”
Two girls and guy, who’d been talking quietly a few feet from us, wheeled around, their jaws agape.
“That would be so hot. And not as messy as the woods. No grass stains.” He giggled, the sound high-pitched and silly.
I dragged him past the trio of gawkers, making sure to catch the guy’s eye and give him a little wink.
He went beet red, then spun around and started whispering furiously to his friends as they shot us furtive glances.
“What happened tonight?” I asked, matching my steps to Noah’s stilted ones.
“Nothing.”
“Nothing?”
He sighed, deep and heavy. “Just didn’t want to be alone.”
“Have you gone there before?”
“Nope. Asked the Uber guy to take me to the closest club.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Why?” His head lolled on his neck drunkenly.
“Because we’re nowhere near your apartment. There has to be closer clubs he could have taken you to.”
“It was weird he drove for so long,” Noah mused. “I didn’t like it there.”
“How’d you get so drunk?” We stopped at a red light. Noah tried to start walking again. I tugged him back. “Careful.”
He leaned more heavily on me. “Dunno. Didn’t eat much today.”
That I could believe. The only food I’d seen him eat at work was a tiny container of spaghetti that would barely feed a child, and an apple. Come to think of it, he hadn’t eaten much all week.
“Why didn’t you eat?”
“Not hungry.”
Was the only reason? I’d heard Noah make disparaging comments about his weight and body type. Was he on a diet? Fuck, I hoped not.
There was nothing wrong with how he looked.
He was big and strong. Sure he wasn’t cut or sculpted, but his bulk looked good on him. Hell, his size was one of the things I was most attracted to.
