“But the stairs?” I question.
“In an emergency they have built in steel shutters at the landing blocking off each level.”
“Wow, you really have thought of everything,” I say in awe.
“You and our family are all that matter to me in this world and I will keep you safe,” he says with such reverence.
Alexander has given me the kitchen fit for a professional chef, it’s both highly functional and beautiful adorned with sleek white marble countertops with white cabinetry and matte black steel appliances and fittings.
The center island commands attention, it needed to because it is the main heart of our home, well it was until Alexander revealed the stunning library. There is enough prep space for me on one side and for everyone to be seated on the opposite side. Along the back wall in the center is a professional-grade gas range with multiple burners, a spacious griddle, and a matte black ventilation hood above.
To the left of the cooktop there is ample counter space with a farmhouse sink before the state-of-the-art refrigerators and freezers, their tinted glass doors are sexy and will showcase the array of food readily available for everyone to enjoy.
To the right is the same counter space before the massive industrial ovens which will be able to handle all of my baking needs and to easily handle dinners with all our family.
On the left side there is a wall with a wide double entry housing the massive walk in pantry which will house shelves stocked with premium cookware and specialty gadgets and all the ingredients I need. It’s also where the main sink and dishwashers are I wanted the mess in here rather than where everyone gathers.
The ambiance is both lavish and homely and I know I will enjoy spending my time preparing meals for our whole family. I knew this house would be sensational but this is beyond what I imagined when we were planning.
“This is amazing Alexander, to see it all come to life feels like a dream.” I whisper in awe.
“I wanted to make all your dreams come true and give you the kitchen and library of your dreams.”
“You are my dream, Handsome, all I need is you and our family.”
Twenty bedrooms, twenty five bathrooms is a lot and I balked at the amount Alexander insisted we have, but his grin was wide and his green eyes glittered with excitement. It was then I knew he was building this for our whole family, not just a house for all the kids he is planning to give me, but a place where we’ll have room for the team or guests to visit or live if they choose, it is a sanctuary for everyone, a home…
We keep touring and come to the safe room or bunker level. It has six of those bedrooms, and seven bathrooms it’s made to be a full size house all on its own, even the kitchen down here is large with a massive walk in butler’s pantry, industrial freezers and refrigerator’s which will be stocked full.
I understand it, Alexander is making sure that if ever there is a security threat to our family or a National security incident that we will be safe and very comfortable, the security measures built into our home blow my mind it’s beyond anything I’ve ever heard of. Nothing will harm us if some major event happens.
“You happy with the way it’s coming together, Angel?” Alexander questions.
I turn and wrap my arms around him and lean my head on his heart, “Yes, Handsome, I wouldn’t have cared where we lived as long as we were all together, but this… wow. I love you so, so much, you have given me the world, but it is nothing without you in it, I want you to promise me you’ll always Come. Home. Safe.” I whisper.
Alexander tips my chin up and his forest green eyes are shining with so much love, and I feel it emanating through my soul.
“I will always do my best to come home to you and our family, that I can promise, Angel.” Alexander kisses my forehead and holds me close just enjoying the moment.
We were both hurting deeply a few months ago and now we are so unbelievable happy. We found each other in the darkest of times, the three of us hanging on tight and not letting go, healing each other as we created something wonderful. I can’t wait till we can move in and make this house a home, filled with love, laughter, food, family, and books, so, so many books.
I smile because I can envision my children snuggled up on a comfy sofa having story time, taking it in turn reading each other our favorites and getting lost in all different worlds of adventure.
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
LILY
Alexa and I are dressed in matching white tea dresses with navy blue flowers dotted all over and the cutest white ballet Chucks. Alexa picked them out with Lottie when they were shopping for Caroline yesterday and made sure there’s a matching one for Caroline.
Alexa explained she chose navy flowers because blue is her Auntie’s favorite color.
I’m nervous, I’m not going to lie, my tummy is flipping with worry, but I also know Alexa is the ray of sunshine that Caroline needs. We woke this morning early and baked our sweets, Alexa decorated special cupcakes for Caroline having Elsa and Anna but both with blonde hair like Caroline and me she explained, and for Tiny, Buzz from Toy Story. I made sure to have enough for everyone, including the staff, who have been amazing to all of us throughout all our recoveries.
As soon as she opens the door Alexa runs straight to Tiny kissing his cheek and shoves the container just for him in his chest.
“Heaw, big guy. Thanks, faw looking aftaw my Auntie.”
Tiny chuckles and reaches out to rough her curls but Alexa ducks and weaves then stands there with her little hands firmly planted on her hips. “Ohhh no you don’t Uncle Tiny, I’m quickaw than that, I’s been leawning my moves and I needs to look pwetty today, I’m meeting my Auntie.”
