It’s petty, but I can’t believe she’s still here to flirt with my fiancé.

She can find her own man.

Deacon wraps his arms around my waist from behind, and I lean into him.

“I know what you’re thinking,” he murmurs. “No one holds a candle to you, Pip. I love you more than life itself.”

I close my eyes as he plants a kiss on my neck.

Every day I feel more secure in his love—never more so than today.

But I still have that sinking feeling that something’s coming.

Something that will blow everything apart.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Deacon

Getting back to Auckland has never felt so good.

I was wary about going back to Gisborne, even for a short time, but Pippa’s family embraced me as one of their own and I got brownie points for asking her dad before I proposed.

I wait until we’re at the door and Pippa’s sliding her key into the lock before I wrap my arms around her from behind and press my cock against her arse.

“Oh, thank God we’re home. I really need to fuck you.”

Pippa laughs. “Can we at least get in the door properly?”

“Yes, but hurry up.”

She pushes the door open, and we stumble into the living room together. After kicking the door closed behind me, I grab her hand and pull her onto the couch, on top of me.

Pippa laughs. “What are you doing?”

“Groping you.” I run my hands along her spine until I reach her arse and give it a squeeze. “We’re not staying with your parents for that long ever again.”

Pippa rolls her eyes. “It’s not like you got no sex, Deac.”

I tug her closer into my side. “Maybe not, but I like it when you scream.”

She slaps my chest before splaying her hand on my abs. “I still can’t really believe we’re engaged.”

“Let’s start planning our wedding. The sooner I tie you down, the better.”

She snorts. “You can tie me down any time.”

I knit my fingers in hers and roll toward her. “Now you tell me.”

Laughing, Pippa squeezes my hand. “You always have a comeback.”

“Everything’s just so easy with you. I feel like I can really be myself.”

Her expression softens.

It’s true. I don’t have to be Deacon, CTO of a multi-million-dollar company—don’t have to worry about my image or letting anyone else down.

Being with Pippa has given me freedom I never thought I was missing.
