I study him for a moment. I’m usually pretty good at reading people, at least I think so, but Reece is hard to get a handle on. This Reece is a lot of fun, but what lies underneath?

Ugh. I’m sure I’m not the only woman to think this. Leopards don’t change their spots.

“Well, nice as this conversation is, I’m going to bed to get some sleep. It’s been a long day.” I spring to my feet.

Reece grabs hold of one of my hands. “You’ve never been to LA before, have you?”

I shake my head. “First time.”

His hand is warm and soft, and he runs his thumb over my knuckles. “I’ll show you all my favourite places.”

“I’d like that.”

My heart races as he raises my hand to his lips and kisses it. It’s corny but cute, and I draw in a deep breath.

“See you in the morning,” he says.

I lift my chin in response. “See you in the morning.”

And for the second time today he leaves the room while my heart pounds.

I’m not quite sure how to describe our budding relationship. I think we’re definitely friends.

Is there any possibility for something more?

Before meeting Pania, I wasn’t looking forward to playing babysitter for Delaney’s friend. Now, all I can think about is how little time we have together.

She wanted a tour; I’m giving her a tour today.

Her eyes shine when she lays eyes on my car. I know the feeling, it’s how I feel whenever I look at it too.

“This is yours?” she asks.

“I just bought it. Josh is the only passenger I’ve had. You’re in exclusive territory here.”

She claps, and it makes me think of Amelia.

I open the passenger door and she steps in. Rounding the car, I slip into the driver’s side. Pania runs her fingers through her long hair, scoops it into a ponytail, and twists it into a knot, securing it to the top of her head with a hair tie.

“Is there anything you want to see in particular?” I ask.

“I want to see some movie stars.” Her eyes take on a dreamy look.

“Ahem.”

She screws up her nose. “Not you. You don’t count.”

“Thanks.” I laugh.

“You know what I mean.”

“Didn’t you meet a ton of them at Josh and Delaney’s wedding?”

“I did, but there are plenty more.”
