He chuckles again like he knows I’m lying.

With another groan, I grab two aprons and hand one to Declan. After tying it around himself, he immediately steps up to one of the sinks and starts washing the dishes. I join him at the adjacent sink and also start on the dishes, but I can’t help but stare at him. It was really kind of him to volunteer to help. Why would he do it, though? What does he gain from this?

Nothing. He’s just doing this out of the goodness of his heart. I can’t believe I thought he was the biggest jerk in the world. Declan Hart is anything but a jerk.

“What? Am I doing it wrong?”

I blink and shake my head. Then I laugh. “I just never thought I’d see Mr. Charming himself as a dish pig.”

He grins. “I can take on any role.”

“I need to film this.”

He laughs, too. “You totally should.”

I dry off my hands and reach for my phone, propping it against something so it has a good view of both of us. I hit record and smile at the camera. “Declan Hart has taken on a lot of roles in his life, but this one far outweighs his previous ones. Introducing… Dish Pig Declan!”

With a smile, he lowers the dish he was washing in the sink and does one of my dorky dance moves. Then he bows. “Dish Pig Declan at your service.”

I pick up my phone and hold it out to him. “Tell me, Dish Pig Declan, how does it feel to be a dish pig?”

“Well, Mia, I have to say that working as a dish pig at this restaurant is one of the best experiences of my life. The people here are wonderful, so hard working and dedicated. And the food?” He does a chef’s kiss. “One who has not dined here has no idea what they’re missing.” He suddenly stops talking as his eyes focus on my hair. “What’s that?”

“What?”

“There’s something in your hair.”

“A bug!?” I cry. “I hate bugs! Get it off! Get it off!”

His fingers sift through the strands and flick it away. “Not a bug,” he says with a laugh. “Just a piece of food.”

I playfully narrow my eyes at him. “You tricked me.”

“No I didn’t.” He pretends to act all innocent.

“Oh my gosh, I’m going to get you back.” I’m about to flick watery soap at him, but then I remember where we are and that Halmeoni is counting on us. “Uh, we should probably act like mature young adults and get back to work.”

“Right. Sorry.”

“Oh! The video.” It’s still recording.

Declan grins at my phone screen. “I’m so hot that I sidetracked her.”

I roll my eyes. “You wish.”

He blows the camera a kiss. “Goodbye from Dish Pig Declan and his helper, Mia McClean.”

“Mia McClean?”

“It’s the best I could do on the spot.”

I sigh dramatically. “Then I guess I have no choice but to accept.”

We both end the video with a dorky dance move. Then we watch it and burst out laughing.

“It’s so funny!” I say. Then I push his shoulder. “Why does the camera love you?”

“You kidding? The camera loves you.”
