After hugs and congratulations are exchanged, everyone eats from the delicious buffet. Rylee is right—there are way too many things to choose from.
Zack and Ally make a speech, telling us how happy and proud they are of Lily and Xavier. They’re both on the shy and quiet side, but since we’re all family, they don’t seem too uncomfortable by it. Xavier’s mom, stepdad, and grandfather make a speech, too, and by the time Spencer is done, everyone has tears in their eyes.
Then Evie and Noah get on the stage and sing a romantic song. Xavier takes Lily’s hand and leads her to the center of the ballroom, where they start to dance. At once, other couples join them.
“May I have this dance, Miss Fearless?” Mason holds out his hand to Rylee.
She smiles as she slides her hand into his. “Of course you may, Dr. Mason.”
Kade stretches his hand to Zoey. “And may I have this dance, Warrior Goddess?”
“I’d love nothing more, Bad Boy.”
The four of them head to the dance floor.
With an exaggerated bow, Declan stretches his hand toward me. “Nothing would make me merrier than to have the love of my life join me on the dance floor. Please, Miss Drama, may I have this dance?”
I make an exaggerated curtsy. “Why, nothing would suit me better, Mr. Charming.”
We join the others on the dance floor and envelop each other in our arms. There’s no better feeling than sharing this romantic dance with the person who’s come to mean so much to me. But it’s more than that. This ballroom is full of all the people who mean the world to me. People who have been part of my life and have helped shape me to be the person that I am. It really does feel like we’re one big happy family.
“I feel so lucky,” I tell Declan as I press my cheek to his chest. “I feel like I’m the happiest person in the world.”
“I’m glad,” he says, his hand rubbing my back. “Because all I want is for you to be the happiest person in the world.” He leans forward to whisper in my ear. “I love you so darn much, Mia. Sometimes it’s scary how much. I never imagined my life would turn out this way, never imagined I could be so happy.” His lips brush against my ear. “Saranghae, Mia.”
I raise my head to look into his eyes. “Saranghae, Declan. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I know it sounds crazy because we’re only sixteen, but all of them have done it.” I gesture to all the Musketeers wrapped in each other’s arms. “It was right for them. And this is right for us.”
He draws me closer to his chest. “Nothing has been more right in the world.”
“Let’s go find somewhere private so I can kiss your lips off,” I say, grabbing hold of his hand.
“You took the words right out of my mouth.”
I know the mansion inside out, so it’s not hard to find a private place. And like we promised, we spend a few minutes making out. I can’t believe I thought this guy was the scum of the Earth. If I would have remained in my stubborn ways and hadn’t opened my eyes and heart to forgiveness and truth, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I wouldn’t be as happy as I am right now. Gosh, how different would my life be? Now that Declan is in it, I can’t imagine him not being in it.
He stares into my eyes with love and intense emotions shining in them. “I know I keep saying it, but I feel like it’s not enough. You’re the most amazing person I have ever met in my life, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life growing closer to you and making you the happiest person on the planet.”
“And I can’t wait to grow closer to you. You’re the most amazing person I’ve ever met, and I can’t wait to see what lies in store for us in the future.”
His lips come down on mine with a mix of urgency and patience. That may sound like an oxymoron, but that’s the only way I can describe it. Because even though we can’t get enough of each other, we still want to take things slow and explore all there is to know about each other. I have the rest of my life to appreciate this wonderful guy who’s changed my life.
Reluctantly, I pull out of his arms. “We should probably get back before Mom sends a search party for us.”
When we return downstairs, I find Rylee and Zoey sitting on one of the sofas outside the ballroom. “Taking a break?” I ask as I lower myself next to them.
“Our feet hurt,” Rylee says.
“Is this a Musketeer hang?” Declan asks, backing away.
“Of course you can join us,” Zoey says. “Mason and Kade are getting more food.”
Declan holds up his hands. “That’s okay. I’ll let you have your girl time. Just don’t gush too much about me.” He winks before walking away.
Rylee laughs. “I can’t believe that used to tick you off, Mia.”
“Right?”
“Are you worried about all his fans, though?” Zoey asks. “I can’t imagine it’s easy seeing him surrounded all the time by girls.”
