“So she broke up with him?”

He lifts his shoulders. “No idea.”

“And you’re saying he still loves her?”

“I’m pretty sure he does.”

I suddenly sit up. “Did you realize Miss Lane seems different lately?”

“Different?”

“Yeah, like…she’s not concentrating as much as she used to. Like she’s distracted.”

“You think it’s because of Chase?”

“Maybe she still loves him, too.”

“That’s why I wish he would ask her out. I think they could rekindle their old flame.”

My wheels are spinning now. Oh, this is far too good…

“What?” he asks.

I grin. “Want to play matchmaker?”

“Uh…do I?”

I get up and start pacing. “Maybe all they need is a push in the right direction. We need to set them up.”

“Set them up?”

“Yeah. Sometimes people don’t realize what’s right in front of them and need help. We can help them.”

His eyebrows furrow. “I see what you’re saying. They’re too hesitant to try again, even though they both might want it. But with a little push…”

“Exactly.”

“I’d love to help my brother get back together with Tori. But how do we even go about doing that?”

I rub my chin. “We need to think of a plan. We should get together tomorrow and discuss it. Spend the night coming up with ideas, okay? This is going to be so much fun! Miss Lane is one of my favorite teachers and I want to help her dreams come true.”

He holds up his hands. “Don’t jump the gun. Maybe we’re wrong and they don’t have feelings for each other.”

“I prefer to be positive.”

“Okay, but I don’t want either of them to get hurt. If they don’t seem to want to try again, we’ll need to back off.”

I nod. “Agreed. But like I said, I’m going to be positive.” I focus back on the game. “I’m sharing a quest with you that I got the other day. It’s recommended to play with a friend. I tried doing it myself and have to say that was a total embarrassment.”

“Okay. I’m going to give you some potions that will increase your health, magic, and stamina. And let me check your armor…Cool. Not bad. And your build looks solid. Your character is probably just too low a level to do it solo.”

“So you want to do another quest?”

“It’s okay. You have the great and mighty Gunthard the Bard with you.” He puffs out his chest.

I roll my eyes playfully.

As we annihilate the boss—well, it’s mostly Gunthard doing it and resurrecting Valarina five times—Declan says, “Wait a second. We didn’t consider something.”
