“Not as much as it’s been driving me insane.”

“So what should we do about it?” he asks, a tease on his lips.

“We must rectify it at once.”

His face washes with a huge smile. “You took the words right out of my mouth.”

As if we’re not practically fused into one, Kade manages to pull me even closer to his body, until there is literally no space between us. His eyes glimmer with even more intense emotions, ones that send sparks all over my body. Standing on my tiptoes, I stretch my face toward his. He brings his down toward mine. My eyes flutter shut as our mouths move closer.

His warm lips press against mine. They’re hesitant, nervous, questioning, uncertain. Mine are probably the same. But after a few seconds, our lips start moving over each other’s more intensely, impatiently, as though this has been building between us for a long time. Because it has.

Kade spins us around as his lips continue roving over mine, and I can feel a humongous smile on them. I’m pretty sure I’ve got a huge smile on mine, too. We kiss for what feels like hours, my hands sifting through his hair and his hands softly squeezing my waist. I thought dancing with him was perfect. But this? It’s out of this world.

“They weren’t kidding,” I whisper when we take a break and press our foreheads together.

“What?” he asks.

“All those romance movies and books. It really is earth-shattering.”

“Even more,” he says as he buries his face between my neck and shoulder. “If you’re with a special person like you.”

“You’re the special one.”

“I’d rather spend the night kissing instead of arguing with you.”

And we do just that. For a long, long time. Then, I rest my head on his chest and we enjoy this amazing moment together.

Chapter Forty-One

Kade

Zoey’s head rests on my chest as we sway in the park. My arms are wrapped around her waist, clutching her like I never want to let her go. This is the closest I’ve ever felt to another person and I want to hold onto this—onto her—for as long as I can.

I brush my fingers through her soft hair, murmuring in her ear how much she means to me.

She looks up at me and smiles, her fingers sweeping across my cheek. Then she bends forward and presses her lips to mine. “Thanks for giving me such an amazing night.”

I rest my cheek on hers. “You’re the one giving me an amazing night. I wish we could stay out here forever.”

“Me, too.”

I dip my head and give her a soft kiss. The wind blows around us and it’s a little chilly, but neither of us seems to mind. I think we’re toasty because of the warmth between us.

“So…” She lifts a brow. “Looks like Bad Boy survived his first dance.”

I chuckle. “Looks like he did. But only because Goody Two Shoes Warrior Goddess is with him. She makes everything ten times better.”

Her cheeks redden. I rest my hand on one, feeling the heat. “You’re adorable when you blush. I love seeing it.”

“And I love seeing you smile.”

“I love seeing you smile, too. It’s one of the best parts of my day.”

Her face gets even redder. I chuckle and kiss her nose. Then my lips drop to her mouth and we make out for a short while.

We don’t want to return to school, but we have no choice. People will realize we’re missing and will come looking for us.

We also know that once we leave this place, we can’t kiss again. And I really, really love kissing her.
