My dragon was roaring inside me as it thrashed wildly, every fiber of its being urging me to get to the woman hanging limply from the guard’s arms.
“Why?” the blocking guard asked suspiciously, wary of any interference.
“I … I think I know her,” I said.
The first shrugged. “I don’t see a problem with that. Here.”
He casually adjusted the woman around.
I stepped back as the hair fell out of the way, revealing a face I’d last seen scrunched in pleasure as she came hard all over my cock.
MINE.
Staggering under the mental blow, I fought down the rage of my dragon as it noticed the guard casually had a hand across Elanya’s breasts as he held her upright. Nobody should touch her that way. Unless it was me.
MINE.
Gritting my teeth against the thunderous voice of my dragon, I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts.
“You okay?” the first guard asked, looking between the human and me.
“I don’t know,” I grunted.
“Take her below,” the guard ordered to his companion, who scooped Elanya into both arms.
“No!” I shouted. “Wait.”
The guards stopped again.
“I’ll do it,” I said, breathing heavily, the fingers of my right hand clenched so tightly I thought I might draw blood.
My dragon wouldn’t allow anyone else to touch her. The possessive nature was so overwhelming I almost struck the guard as he handed the mostly limp woman over to me with a curious stare.
Blood burned like lava as it surged through my veins, pooling wherever she pressed up against me. I inhaled her scent, wrinkling my nose slightly, trying to figure out what her scent was. It didn’t smell like her. Rather it did, but there was something else mixed with it.
“In here,” the senior guard said, indicating the room where the women would be placed prior to entering the cave for choosing.
The choosing.
Reluctantly, with great mental effort, I put Elanya down and stepped back, watching as the wall swallowed her up. My breathing came heavily as I hunched over, rocking slightly, my dragon hammering at my brain to be let out.
MINE. MINE. MINE.
“I know!” I shouted at it, shaking my head.
“Uh, are you okay?”
I ignored the guard, fighting the urge to claw at my face as if that would somehow release my beast and free me from the pounding of my skull.
Elanya. In the Dragon Isles. It was impossible. How could it be?
Did she somehow figure out I was a dragon? Is she here for that?
But the humans didn’t know we could shift. It was a secret we guarded furiously. Although now that many of our people were living in the occupied territory, it was only a matter of time before it came out. For now, though, I couldn’t believe she’d known.
Which raised the question, why was she there? What had brought her?
“Hey, watch it,” the guard asked as I stumbled forward, pushing him out of my way, my mind made up.
