He extended a hand out to her, the top of his hand was inked up with tattooed letters that spelled out ‘WRATH’ across the tops of his knuckles. “Name’s Gage.”
She gave a light smile as she took his hand and gave it a quick shake. “Layne. Look, my jackass brother had a table over there,” she motioned in the direction of the table that his back was to, “and I don’t know what type of trouble he’s caused tonight so I just wanted to make sure I clear everything out.”
Without even turning to look at the table she referenced, he responded quickly. “It’s taken care of.” He grinned at her.
Tilting her head in confusion at him, he continued. “He’s lucky to have a sister that cares enough to help him out. Loyal siblings are a rarity. Besides, it means I got the pleasure of meeting you.” A charming smile spread across his face.
She grinned and shook her head at how thick he was laying it on her. “Thanks, but I don’t like owing favors.” Favors were very dangerous things.
Gage leaned over and whispered to her. “I won’t tell if you won’t.”
That’s when Joey came up to Layne’s side. “Liam is in the parking lot puking his brains out. So help me, if he pukes in my car, I’m going to make him lick it all up.” The irritation was weighing in hard on his voice.
Joey glanced over at the man Layne had been speaking with and went as still as the dead. Tension locking in across his body. His cocoa-brown eyes swiftly shifted as he hardened his gaze.
A large smile came over Gage’s face, accompanied by a chuckle of amusement. “Look who it is. After all these years and all the places, I didn’t expect to run into my big brother tonight.”
