“Mm,” I replied, distracted and not realizing until Brian came back to sit down that Catherine had given him the opportunity to do so.
“Hi.” He smiled.
I was unable to help the grin on my face. “Hi, yourself.”
“Are you wishing I was heading up to New York with you?” His voice was husky.
I shrugged. “Maybe I’m looking forward to a good night’s sleep.”
He chuckled. “You’ve always been a terrible liar, Sasha.”
I swallowed hard when his hand brushed against my leg. “I, uh, what are your plans for this weekend?” We’d only have two work days left in the week.
Amusement showed in his eyes. “Laundry, gym, probably clean the house—although I’m keeping the sheets as is because they smell like you.”
“Now you get to be tortured like I was.”
“It’ll add to the anticipation for seeing you the next weekend.”
Right. Our two-week agreement. At the time we’d agreed to it, I’d thought it might be too much, and now I was lamenting time apart. “What’s the plan for that?”
“We can discuss it in the next few days if that’s okay? How are you feeling, by the way?” His tone was back to low and intimate.
“I’m reminded of you every time I cross my legs. You could say I’m a little sore.”
Air hissed between his teeth, and his eyes dilated with desire. He opened his mouth to speak but then closed it again. Finally, after taking a breath, he whispered, “I meant if you were tired or hung over. Once again, you’ve caught me off guard.” He shifted in his seat uncomfortably.
Oh, shit. I’d made him hard without even trying. Maybe I could do this dirty talk thing, after all, I thought, feeling my face heat. “Ah, sorry. I had the other on my mind and answered accordingly.”
He shook his head. “Not helping. Change of subject, please.”
“What would you recommend?” I grinned.
“Let’s talk about the team you’re going to put on the new pharmaceutical account. I’m kind of surprised you didn’t bring it up the entire time we were in Tortola.”
Huh, I couldn’t believe it, either. I’d never been able to shut off work for more than a few hours at a time. And yet it hadn’t crossed my mind in days.
