Chapter seven

BJs and New Friends

The rest of the week flew by, and Colin called the architectural firm to see if Olivia could do a tour and speak with a couple interns and full-fledged architects who worked there, thinking that maybe it would help her get over this bout of difficulty at her school.

Soon it was Friday, and Olivia solidified plans with Stella before they left campus. She’d had to drive to school that day, as Colin had a business lunch and a full day of work.

She called him before she took off.

“Hey love, I’m headed to run an errand, and then home. When are you getting to the house and what time do you think we’ll be heading out?” she asked, making the merge to get on the highway.

“Olivia,” Colin rasped in his husky voice. She could hear him settling down further in his chair and the muted sound of what she knew was his glasses hitting the desk. “Are you looking forward to seeing me baby? You hardly ever call, you mostly text me.”

She gave him a little giggle.

“I am looking forward to having some fun tonight, yes.” she admitted. His buttery voice doing dangerous things to her imagination. “It’s much needed, this week has been especially difficult, you know. Thank you for taking such good care of me.”

“It’s my pleasure,” Colin waited a beat before he asked the question; Olivia knew he would catch it. “So where are you going, you said you had an errand to run?”

“Ohhhh, can we just keep this one thing secret? I’m picking up a gift for you,” Olivia said gently.

“Hmmm…you know I don’t like secrets, but I will relent if you text me the moment you get there, and the minute you leave to head home. I won’t pry and look at your location, you may turn it off if you’d like just for this,” his dominating presence radiated out through the phone, causing her to blush. She made a small sound in her throat as she turned into the parking lot of the jewelry store.

“No need for that, Colin. I’m already here. I’ll text you when I’m headed home.”

They hung up and she walked through the store to get the embellished tie clip that she special ordered just for him. It was an engraved, simple silver piece that said ‘OM’ on the front, and on the back had an engraving. To my very own Clark Kent. With love, Olivia. While she was there, she browsed around their men’s ring department and found a piece that screamed Colin. But it was very expensive, hosting a series of black diamonds.

She stood there for a moment, and Dr. Tyson’s voice appeared in her head. His scarcity mindset comment had been bugging her since the appointment.

Colin’s voice now entered the picture, speaking about how much of a turn-on it was for him to have money and the power associated with it hit her hard. Gritting her teeth, she asked the man to check the size on the ring; it was Colin’s of course. Feeling her heart pound, she purchased both the ring and the tie clip and fought back a wave of nausea at the price, so she added insurance just in case.

Carefully stowing the bag into her purse, she made her way to her car and texted Colin she was on her way home.

Walking into the house she greeted Beth and Mary who were currently packing up to leave for the day and gave them both a kiss on the cheek on the way to their bedroom. She went to the bathroom and stowed the boxes on the vanity before changing her mind and taking it into their walk-in closet and pressing the button that released his watch, cuff link, and ring drawer. She took the gifts out of the boxes and then stowed them side by side, closing the drawer back.

She picked out her outfit, a cream cashmere sweater with a matching skirt and red fuck me jimmy choo heels, laying the items on the bed. She jumped into the shower quickly, doing her business so she could focus on her hair, blowing it out into big shiny waves that tumbled down her back.

Olivia heard the moment Colin got home because music played through the speaker, an easy relaxing tempo. She hoped that had meant he’d had a good day, she was looking forward to having some much-needed time with him tonight on a fun outing.

She was putting the last of her makeup on, standing in an expensive hunter green lingerie set when Colin appeared in the doorway. He stopped and leaned against it, moving his eyes down her form and making an appreciative noise in his throat. It was so blatantly sexual of a sound, she stopped applying mascara for a second to stare at him, doing her own once over. He’d removed his tie and jacket, unbuttoned the top two buttons revealing his chest hair and the top of his tattoos, and rolled up the sleeves of his crisp white button up shirt.

“God you’re so sexy,” he said, rubbing his jaw and staring at the front of her reflection in the mirror. She smiled and attached a ruby red stud earring to her ear.

“You’re sexier,” she said, licking her lips as she attached the other earring and turned smoothly to face him, closing the distance between them and smoothing her hands down his chest.

“It’s a pity the driver’s going to be here soon, we could have had a quickie,” she whispered. He graced her with a slow dangerous smile.

“You’re not topping from the bottom pet, not tonight. I’ll decide if we have a quickie or not,” he whispered, leaning down to take her mouth in a rough kiss. Olivia was glad she didn’t put lipstick on. She’d noticed earlier on that lipstick would be a rarity, as Colin almost always had his mouth on her.

“Where’s my gift?” he said as he pulled back, giving her that intense stare that was also mixed with something new, a fresh excitement that made him look slightly younger. She melted a little at the sight and felt so silly that it took her so long to do something nice for him. She penciled in wanting to give him a gift at least weekly, something that would make his week a little brighter.

Olivia flashed him a wide smile and lightly pushed him through the door. Pulling him into their closet, she studied him, chewing her lip and nervously wringing her fingers.

“You don’t have to like it,” she blurted out. “I literally got it on a whim and-“

“Olivia,” Colin interrupted, but she kept speaking as if she couldn’t hear him.

“We can take it back, it’s not too late. I have insurance on it, and I can sell it or something,” she finished breathlessly. She grabbed onto his forearm anxiously. Her cheeks were pink.
