I belong to him now. My world is forever changed.
I smile, but my phone is still ringing, and there’s really only one person who could be calling me right now. I slide out from under Cade’s arm, snatch up my purse, and answer before it can go to voicemail.
“Hey, Dad,” I say, doing my best to sound like I haven’t just woken up or just rushed to answer. Cade stirs beside me and sits up.
“Who is it?” he asks much too loudly. I spin and shush him. He gets the message.
“Hey, puddin’,” my dad says. “Just calling to see where you were. I was doing some errands, came home, and you weren’t there.”
“Oh, I’m just with Misty. You remember the girl from the tattoo parlor?”
“Isn’t she your boss?” my dad asks.
“Sort of, but not really. It’s more complex than that.”
There’s a long pause, and I feel my blood pressure rising.
“What’s that sound, puddin’?”
“Sound?” I ask.
“Yeah, it sounds like you’re in a wind tunnel or something. Or you’re down by some rapids or something.”
I sigh and almost laugh, realizing my dad’s picked up on the churning of the waterfall rushing into the pond.
“Oh, we’re just driving with a window down,” I reply. “So are you going in tonight?”
I’m anxious to switch the topic of this conversation. I hate lying to my dad and don’t want this to go further where I need to lie even more.
“Yep. Just got called in. There’s leftovers in the fridge if you want them. I’ll be working all night. Probably won’t see you until tomorrow afternoon.”
“Aw, I’m sorry, Pops. You work too hard. If only Beatrice would–”
“We all have to make our own way in life, puddin’,” he interrupts. “You take care. I’ll see ya tomorrow.”
“Take care, Pops.”
He hangs up, and I set my phone down with a sigh. Cade instantly has me in his arms. “What is it, baby?”
“My dad,” I reply. “Working his ass off while my aunt lives up there hoarding all her money to herself. It’s absurd.”
“I’m sorry, Sky,” Cade says sweetly. “If I could do something, anything to fix it–”
“It’s okay,” I say quickly. “It’s not your fault. On a good note, though, you and I have my place to ourselves all night. That is, if you feel like spending it with me…”
“Are you being serious right now?” Cade asks.
I’m so taken aback that an odd sound comes out from my throat. Fortunately Cade smiles, and I immediately calm down. “I want to spend all the time I can with you, Sky.”
I feel silly now for thinking he would have rejected my offer.
God his body looks unbelievable beneath the glow of the moon which highlights the curvature of his muscles like the statue of a Greek god.
He drags his eyes unabashedly up the length of my body, drilling a confidence into me like I’ve never known. Not only do I feel wanted when I’m in Cade’s company, but I also feel more feminine than I’ve ever felt. I actually feel sexy and in touch with my body.
And I’m no longer a virgin…
“So do you want to do it again here?” Cade asks, eyeing his cock, which is close to standing at full attention. “Or should we wait until we get back to your place?”
