Jesse felt something wet trickle down his chest. She was crying again.
He was about to ask her again, when she brought a hand up through the blanket and wiped the moisture away from her cheeks. “I don’t know, exactly. One minute everything was great. Then, it wasn’t.”
That didn’t tell him anything useful. “Did something change?”
She was quiet for a long moment. “I realized I was trapped. I couldn’t move. And I…”
When she didn’t finish her sentence, he filled in the blanks. “Got scared.”
Cassie nodded. “Yeah.”
Jesse held her tighter. He kissed the top of her head before lifting her chin so she could look him in the eyes. “It’s okay to be scared. You don’t have to be the strong one. If you fall, I’ll catch you.” He brushed the fresh tears from her cheeks and one side of his mouth lifted in a half smile. “That’s sort of my job as your Dom.”
“You’re not mad?”
“Of course not.” He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Why would I be mad?”
“I ruined the moment.”
Lifting her onto his lap, he repositioned the blanket so it encompassed them both. Not only did this keep them both warm given neither of them had any clothes on, but it also meant her naked body was pressed against his. “Baby, you didn’t ruin anything. This is just growing pains. We’re learning about each other. The important thing is we talk through the things that worked and those that didn’t.”
She thought about that for a long moment. “I liked when you were lying on top of me while we were having sex. I don’t know what changed for me. I was okay, then I wasn’t. It makes no sense.”
“It makes more sense than you might think.” He caressed her hip, keeping his hands in more neutral areas. “During sexual arousal, your mind processes things differently. Pain. Pleasure. It all gets jumbled. Things you wouldn’t normally be okay with can suddenly be okay when combined with sexual stimulation.”
“You think once I wasn’t sexually stimulated anymore, my brain processed you lying on top of me differently?”
“Me holding you down. Yes.”
Cassie was quiet for a long moment. “Does that mean you won’t hold me down anymore?”
He couldn’t stop the snort that escaped, nor his smile. “No.”
“No, you won’t hold me down anymore, or no, it doesn’t mean you won’t hold me down anymore?” Cassie’s lips twisted and her brow furrowed. “That didn’t even make sense to me.”
Jesse laughed, then answered her question. “This won’t be the last time I restrict your movement. Whether that’s by holding you down, as I did today, or by securing your limbs to my bed, or by trussing you up and hanging you from the ceiling.”
Her eyes grew wide. “Truss me up? Like a turkey?”
Again, he couldn’t help but chuckle. “Trust me, you’ll look much better than any turkey.”
Cassie swallowed. “I’m not sure I’m ready for something like that.”
He sobered. “No, you’re not. Not yet. But that doesn’t mean you won’t be in the future. What happened today, this is a learning experience, nothing more.”
She sighed. “What do we do now?”
“I’ll pay more attention to your emotional state as you come down from your climax and I need you to communicate to me when you feel that panic beginning to take hold.”
“You mean use my safeword.”
Jesse nodded. “Say yellow if you feel it coming on.” He cupped her cheek and rested his forehead against hers. “I don’t like seeing you in distress like that.”
She closed the distance between them and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. “Thank you.”
He gave her a soft kiss in return. “I’m thinking a movie might be a nice way to continue our day. Do you have any suggestions?”
“Have you seen Outlander?”
