“Did you obey me, Cassie?”

She sucked in a breath, and he felt a shiver run through her body.

“Answer me.”

“Yes.”

Jesse covered her mouth with his. She opened for him, and he slid his tongue inside, stroking and tasting. His hands wanted to explore every inch of her, but he kept them on her back and hips. As much as he wanted to take things further, he knew it would be better…smarter…to wait.

He broke the kiss. “It’s getting late. You need to get your rest.”

She met his gaze, her pupils dilated with arousal. If he led her to his bedroom, she’d follow.

Placing another brief kiss on her now swollen lips, Jesse took two steps back, forcing himself to put some distance between them. “Wait here.”

Jesse strolled into his study, still feeling the tingle of her lips against his. He was rock hard and would need to spend some quality time with his hand after she left, but it would be worth it. He had to keep reminding himself.

Going to his desk, he unlocked the bottom drawer and removed the blank limits list he’d printed out for her. He hadn’t planned to give it to her quite this soon, but maybe it was better this way.

When he exited his study, she was exactly where he’d left her. Cassie met his gaze and held it as he crossed the room until he was standing in front of her. It was only then she seemed to notice the papers in his hand.

He handed them to her. “This is the limits list I was telling you about. Fill it out as best as you can and be honest. That’s the most important thing. Don’t mark something as okay because you think that’s what I’d want.”

She took the papers. “Okay. I’ll be honest.”

Jesse smiled. “I want you to text me when you get home so I know you arrived safe.”

“I will.” Cassie picked up her purse, folded the papers, and stuffed them inside.

He walked her to the door, admiring the way her ass swayed beneath the fabric. It was a good visual he’d use later tonight.

She began to leave, then stopped, meeting his gaze. “What about work?”

He’d been expecting her to ask and he’d been thinking it over. “We’ll need to tell my dad and inform HR. I’ll see if I can get some time with my dad tomorrow. Once that’s done, we’ll tackle HR.”

A little worried wrinkle appeared on her forehead. “Do you think he’ll be upset?”

“My dad?”

“Yeah.”

Jesse thought about it. Blake Masters was a strange bird sometimes. He honestly had no idea how his dad would react, but he wasn’t overly concerned about it either. His father was more likely to be upset with him than he was with Cassie, if he was bothered at all. He was hoping, however, that since his dad liked Cassie, he’d be okay with Jesse dating her. “No.”

Cassie seemed to relax a little. “Okay. Well, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.”

She started to walk out the door, but he hooked his arm around her waist and crushed her against him. He needed one more kiss.

Her arms went around his neck as she melted into him and kissed him back. They were both breathing hard when he finally let her go. He brushed his thumb over her bottom lip. “Drive safe.”

Jesse stood in the doorway, watching her make her way down the hall. She glanced back at him before stepping onto the elevator. He had a moment where he wanted to chase after her, throw her over his shoulder, and carry her back into his condo, but he wanted to do this right and that meant taking it slow.

Cassie woke the next morning with a smile on her face. She’d texted Jesse the night before to let him know she’d gotten home safely. He’d replied immediately, telling her he’d stop by her desk at noon to take her to lunch.

Her nerves about them dating had everything to do with how other people would react. When they were together, only the two of them, Cassie wasn’t thinking about who Jesse’s father was. She was too busy enjoying being with him.

Brie was pouring cereal into a bowl when Cassie emerged from her room, dressed and ready for the day. She’d taken a little extra time with her makeup, wanting to look good for her lunch date. Her friend took one look at her and whistled.
