“I think I’ll stick with pop tonight.”

Cassie went to her bedroom, removed her work clothes, and dug out her favorite comfy pajamas. She was looking forward to vegging out on the couch with her best friend.

“Comedy, action, or sci-fi?” Brie asked.

“I was thinking sci-fi.”

Brie scrolled through the sci-fi options. “Star Wars. Star Trek, Stargate?”

“What about Dune?”

Her friend scrunched up her nose. “That movie with Patrick Stewart from the eighties?”

Cassie shook her head. “No. The new one. It’s supposed to be much better.”

It took a moment, but Brie found it and hit play. Things were starting to get good when there was a knock on the door.

“I got it.” Brie was on her feet and halfway to the door before Cassie could reach for the remote. Pausing the movie, she waited while Brie paid the delivery guy and brought the large pie back to the couch. Her friend set the box between them, opened the box, and pulled out a slice.

“Hungry?” Cassie removed a slice of her own.

“Starving,” Brie said around her bite. Her friend swallowed and picked up her drink. “I’m surprised you aren’t scarfing down your dinner. I figured Jesse would have worn you out last night.”

Cassie felt heat bloom on her cheeks.

“I knew it!” Brie slapped her own thigh. “So how was it? Is he a sex god? Did he rock your world? He had to be better than Trent, right?”

She took another bite, chewed, and swallowed before responding. “It was good.”

“Just good? Or was it goooood?”

Cassie laughed. “The second one.”

Brie squealed. “It’s about time you had some good sex.”

Good didn’t begin to cover it. Her fantasies about good sex hadn’t come close to what sex had been like with Jesse. He’d made her come three times. Three. She’d struggled to come at all with Trent. Even pleasuring herself, she’d never had an orgasm so intense, let alone three of them.

“Oh wow. That good, huh?”

“What?” Cassie asked.

“Your face. It says it all.”

Averting her gaze back to the television, Cassie picked up the remote. “You ready?”

Brie leaned back and propped her feet on the coffee table. “Let’s see if Paul can save the spice world.”

Cassie shook her head and hit play.

* * *

Jesse stood under the shower, letting the warm water wash away the shit day he’d had. Every time he thought he’d uncovered the last of the previous manager’s mistakes, he discovered a new one. And to top things off, it had taken him over two hours at the bank to get all the documents he needed.

He looked up, letting the water hit him in the face, then stepped out of the spray and ran his hands over his face and hair to remove the excess water. His muscles were tight with pent-up energy. He’d already spent an hour at the gym trying to work off his frustration, but it hadn’t done much.

Turning off the water, he stepped out of the shower and began drying off. He wished Cassie had been able to come over tonight. She would have been able to relive his tension.

He hung up the towel to dry and exited the bathroom. The cooler air in his bedroom prickled his skin. He sat on the edge of the mattress and flexed his shoulders and neck before checking the clock. It was almost nine thirty. Surely, Cassie and Brie would be done with their movie by now.
