Crap. She was supposed to have dinner with Jesse’s family Friday night.

I can’t Friday. I already have plans. - Cassie

Three dots appeared almost immediately, letting her know he was responding.

What plans? - Bradley

She bit her lower lip. Did she want to announce her relationship to her brother? What would he think of Jesse?

??? - Bradley

I’m having dinner with someone. - Cassie

Who? - Bradley

Cassie sighed. None of your business. – Cassie

So not Brie or one of your friends from high school. Is it for work? - Bradley

She narrowed her eyes in frustration. What part of none of your business did you not understand, little brother? - Cassie

So it’s a date. Cancel it. You can go out with this guy another time. Or not. - Bradley

I’m not canceling. - Cassie

There was a brief delay before she saw the three dots appear again. Who is he? - Bradley

While she was trying to figure out how to answer him, the man in question strolled off the elevator. Memories of last night and this morning sent heat rushing to her sex. Her butt was still feeling the remnants of the spanking he’d given her when she shifted in her chair, but her body didn’t seem to care.

Jesse approached her desk and gave her a knowing smile, like he knew exactly where her mind had gone. “Good morning, Cassie.”

She was keenly aware of where they were and that most likely more than one set of eyes were watching them. “Mr. Masters. What can I do for you?”

He raised an eyebrow at her choice of wording.

Cassie hadn’t meant it to be sexual, but given the type of relationship he wanted, she should have known. She was going to have to be more careful. “What can I help you with?”

He chuckled, and she realized even that could be taken the wrong way. But he let her off the hook. “Is my father in?”

“He is, but he’s on a conference call until lunchtime. Did you want me to have him call you when he’s done?” Cassie asked.

“No. Just let him know I won’t be able to have lunch with him today. I need to run across town to pick up some paperwork at the bank.”

“Sure.” It was then she noticed the tension in his forehead. “Is something wrong?”

He shook his head. “Nothing I can’t handle.”

“Okay.”

As he turned to make his way back to the elevator, he stopped to face her again. “I’ll call you later. Enjoy your movie night.”

He’d asked her to have dinner with him again tonight, but she’d told him Thursday was usually movie night. Between dating and work, her and Brie’s schedules were often crazy, so they’d agreed to set aside one day a week to eat pizza, watch a movie, and catch up on life. When she’d told Jesse this morning over breakfast, he’d nodded and commented how he’d have to put taking her to the movies on their list of things he wanted to do with her. It didn’t take a genius to know where his mind had gone.

Almost as soon as Jesse left, one of the other executive assistants called, needing her help with a file. Cassie spent the next half hour on the phone with her, walking her through what should have been a five-minute task. By the time she was finished, she’d completely forgotten about her brother’s text.

At five o’clock, she shut everything down and headed to the parking garage.

Brie was in the kitchen when Cassie got home. “I already ordered the pizza. Go change and we’ll pick out something to watch. Did you want pop or something stronger?”
