Wolfie deliberately lolls his fake tongue down Cygnus’ neck, and Cygnus shudders. “It doesn’t matter. This wolf is going to eat you up.”
Cygnus scrunches up his nose. “No thanks, Wolfie. Go eat your grandma, instead.”
Wait, did he just burn Wolfie?
Cygnus’ expression looks sweet, but there’s a dangerous twinkle in his eyes.
He’s playing the good Omega game in a way that I never could, but there’s steel underneath it.
“You little bitch…” Furious, Wolfie raises his large paw to strike Cygnus.
Cygnus braces himself.
And that’s my limit.
Emiliano on his knees.
Head bowed.
Mom’s hand raised.
Rage floods through me.
I may only be a dependent and not a bonded member of this new pack but that still makes Cygnus mine.
I don’t care that I’m a Reject. I’m stronger than Cygnus is.
I’ve spent the last year building back my strength, and my entire life becoming an elite athlete.
Plus, because of his position as the Traditional coach’s son, Cygnus is only able to fight back with words. If he rebels more than that, he runs the risk of being labeled rebellious and then being marked as a Reject.
I won’t let that happen to him.
Hell, I can’t fall much further. I can be his sword.
Or Puck.
If there are consequences, then I’ll pay them. I’ll save this Omega.
I don’t even hesitate.
My pulse pounds, as I growl even louder.
Then I charge toward the huge Beta.
CHAPTER 3
Blade Arena, Washington
I never imagined that on my first day with my new pack, I’d get into a mascot fight.
“Puck off, Wolfie,” I snarl.
Hey, that could be my new slogan.
I’m already earning back Roarke’s investment in me. I’ve just saved the marketing department thousands of dollars.
I lower my head as I charge, ramming into Wolfie’s stomach.
