I can’t speak. My eyes burn.

Because Emiliano would have loved that.

He would have loved Cygnus.

I stroke Cygnus’ cheek. “You’re kinder than anyone I know. But Dad died when I was young.”

Cygnus’ gaze softens with understanding and a shared grief.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” He grips my hand. “Mom died too, when I was a kid. She was an amazing woman, and I know that she’d have been overjoyed that I found someone like you to love.”

I smile. “Dad would have felt the same about you.”

We sit for a moment in silence.

It isn’t a melancholy one though. I’ve always wanted to have someone who I could share my memories of Emiliano with and now I do.

It’s bittersweet but it also makes me feel like finally I can move on.

I grip Cygnus’ hand. “I should have known that my little bookworm would have had a reading nook in his nest.”

He laughs. “Of course. My two sins are needing good books and comfy chairs to read them in. My Omega Chamber caters to both of them.”

“Your Omega Chamber is perfect.”

And it is.

It’s a magical mix of indulgence and coziness.

I can see the influence of each of the Blades in it.

It suits them.

I especially love that it smells of all of them, even Asher.

Cygnus’ eyes brighten. “It’s yours now too. We’ll share it. For your next heat, we can add your favorite things too like your soft blanket.”

My heart swells with joy and an emotion so large that I can’t talk.

To an Omega, where they spend their heats is close to holy. That Cygnus is willing to share his nest with me in this way is more than kind.

I don’t know that I truly realized how much he loved me until now.

I tangle my hand in Cygnus’ curls and pull him into a kiss.

He lets out a startled but pleased sound, and I kiss him harder. Then I squirm, twisting to pin him beneath me, as I pant.

I’m so fucking wet.

The pre-heat is beginning to edge towards full heat.

Fuck, I’m desperate to pull up my jersey and touch myself.

I only just catch my hand from sliding down my hip and to between my thighs in time.

Cygnus is watching me with wide, excited eyes.

But it’s no good.
