Oliver nodded. “Deal. I’m going over to Zane’s place to grab some cereal. Would you like some?”

“What kind of cereal?”

“He has all sorts. Everything sugary and unhealthy.”

Clary made a face. “No, thanks. You enjoy your breakfast. But I’d love a cup of coffee.”

Oliver’s head bobbed up and down. “If Elton hasn’t taken all of it, I’ll bring you a cup.”

“Thanks.” She turned her attention to Seth when Oliver disappeared from sight.

Seth waited.

“He’s nice. I like him.”

His eyes narrowed.

“What?”

“Aren’t you insulted that he doesn’t seem to trust your food?”

“I didn’t think it was about me.” She pushed herself up onto the counter, and Seth jerked upright. “What?”

He eyed the cabinets.

“What?” Clary’s eyes were wide, but she didn’t move.

“I’m just not sure if the cabinets can take the weight.”

She rolled her eyes and hopped off the countertop. “I’m not that heavy.”

“These were the first cabinets I ever installed in my life. I have no idea if I was doing it right, and I’ve never tested how much weight they can actually take.”

“Well, I’m a hundred and ten pounds. So it can hold at least that.” She cocked her head to the side. “You try.”

He frowned.

“I thought you’d like to test how much weight the cabinets can take. I’m here. If it falls apart, I can help. If I can’t, I can scream for your brothers.”

Seth laughed and shook his head. “What would you like for breakfast?” He checked his watch. He had a meeting this morning, but he could always cancel it.

“It’s all right. I’ll get Tamara to grab me some breakfast. I can book a car on my own if you’re in a rush.”

He shook his head and poured her a glass of water. “Did you sleep well?”

She nodded and took the water from him.

“Is everything okay?”

She bit down on her lips.

“Is Edward Eolenfeld upset that you’re here? Or is it your grandmother?”

She arched a brow.

“I heard you on the phone.”

“It was Mr. E.” She pursed and released her lips with a soft pop. “I gave him my word that I wouldn’t talk to you about it.”
