“Have you found the man?” Seth asked.

Detective Lowe shook her head.

“We sent out an alert for every patrol to keep a lookout for a gray Nissan,” Detective Lowe continued.

“How do you know it’s a gray Nissan?” Clary asked.

Detective Lowe’s eyes widened slightly. “Isn’t it? That’s what Mr. Anderson said.”

Seth’s brows twitched, and Clary held her hands up in peace.

“Then it must be,” she said. “I was just asking. I didn’t pay attention to the car, besides noticing how rundown it looked.”

Detective Lowe nodded and took out her phone. “We’re going through the videos to spot the car trailing your and Mr. Anderson’s cars. We should find something soon. For now, could you tell us what happened? Everything you remember.”

Clary gave a concise rundown of what happened.

Cracking a smile, Detective Lowe stopped typing on her phone and looked up at Clary. “Very clear and concise. I love that.”

Clary had recorded enough statements for the police to know what they were looking for: facts and details.

“So the man isn’t after you,” Detective Lowe said to her.

“I don’t think so. I believe he was after Seth. He didn’t even look my way much in the beginning.” Clary took a sip of water. “And,” she paused for a moment to peer over at Seth, “the man did say that he was after Seth because he killed his sister.”

The detectives’ brows rose while Seth remained stoic.

Clary put down her glass of water. “It probably has something to do with Movement’s drugs. Maybe their medicine didn’t manage to save the man’s sister or something.”

Seth turned to her.

“It isn’t your fault,” Clary continued. “And there was no way you would’ve remembered him or his sister.”

Detective Lowe’s brows twitched. “So this isn’t about the death threats you’ve been receiving.”

“How did you know?” Clary hadn’t told anyone about that. Besides her assistant and herself, the only other people who would know about the threats would be those who sent them.

And her assistant hadn’t been able to get in touch with Mr. E either.

Yet the news still made it back to him. Did that mean that one or more of the people behind the threats were in touch with Mr. E too?

“You’ve been getting death threats?” Seth asked her.

“There are many people angry with EB Co.”

Seth stared back at her without a word while Detective Lowe shrugged. “Point is, threats have been made, so you should be careful.”

Clary tore her gaze from Seth and nodded. “I will.”

Detective Lowe turned her attention to Seth. “You don’t know who the man was?”

“No.”

“Is there anyone who wants to hurt you?”

“There are people picketing outside my office. We received threats all the time at Movement.”

“Do you still have the threats you received?”
