Page 38 of Double Take

It’s fine. Everything is fine. I know it is. I straighten my back and cradle my belly with my hand.

“Doctor, it’s time to be straight with us. What’s wrong?”

“Dear, nothing is wrong, but the first sonogram missed something important, and I wanted to go back and review the first one. And get confirmation from another physician.”

“What’s going on?” Axel’s jaw flexes as he glares at the doctor.

“Everything’s fine.” The doctor smiles and pats my knee. “The pregnancy is progressing as expected. There’s a strong heartbeat, and proper growth is detected. However, during the first sonogram, we failed to see the smaller of the twins.”

“Twins?” My mouth hangs open. “How can I be pregnant with twins? There was only one baby on the sonogram.”

“With the first sonogram, the babies were small, and the larger one was positioned in front of the smaller one.”

“I don’t understand?” My heart beat slams against my ribs. “How’s that even possible?”

“It’s rare, but it does happen due to the position of the twins.” He pulls up the computer screen and shows us the first sonogram versus the second sonogram. And he’s right. In the first one, it’s impossible to see the smaller baby. But now, you can see two distinct fetuses.

“This is crazy.” Axel shakes his head as they both stare in wonder at the screen.

“You may not be aware since you didn’t know you were having twins, but about 50% of twin pregnancies are two eggs fertilized by two different sperm. Well, in your case, the eggs were fertilized a little over a week apart. The second egg likely dropped a few days after the first and was fertilized a few days later. That’s why one is smaller than the other.”

“So, there are two different eggs with two different sperm having fertilized them?” Oliver’s eyes dance as he squeezes my shoulder.

“Yes, it would appear so. And as time has passed, the twins have grown closer in size. However, one is still slightly smaller.”

“And that’s okay?” I grasp Axel’s hand and squeeze.

“Yes, it’s not unusual for fraternal twins to grow at different rates. And there should be no issues with your pregnancy.”

“I can’t believe it.” For the last six months, I knew I was pregnant, but to find out that it’s twins is unexpected. That’s two of everything. Of course, it shouldn’t be a surprise. Axel and Oliver are twins, and there are other twins in their family tree. “Twins.”

“By two different sperm.” Oliver waggles his eyebrows as Axel kisses the top of my head. Sunny drops to the floor, scrambling to the box of toys in the corner as if she’s bored by the conversation.

Heat covers my cheeks as the doctor stands and gathers his gear. They came through with their promise of filling me so full of cum that it dripped out of me, and they’d shove it right back inside of me. And look what happened. Happiness fills every molecule of my body.

“Well then….” The doctor clears his throat as if he senses the undercurrent of sexual tension bouncing off Axel and Oliver. I’m never going to hear the end of this. “Would you like to know the genders?”

“Yes.” I lean forward, not giving them the chance to drag it out.

“In front of them or keep it between us?” The doctor hits the image, and a small printer on the counter kicks on.

“Together.” I grab their hands and wait. We got into this together. They should hear the results at the same time as I do.

“Two boys.” The doctor grabs the photo of the twins off the printer and hands it to me.

Two boys. Of course, it’s two boys. One fathered by each of them. Not that we’ll check or that we’d be able to tell by DNA samples anyway. I scramble off the exam table and launch into their arms as the doctor disappears out the door.

“I love you, baby.” Oliver kisses me soundly.

As soon as I pull back, Axel cups my cheeks and claims my mouth. “I love you, sweetheart.”

I thread my fingers through their hair. “I love you. Thank you for taking us in and loving us.” I wink. “And for all your zealous overachieving.”

“Any time.” Oliver laughs as they both cradle my belly. Life can’t get any sweeter than this. Loved and cherished by two men who’d do anything for me. A gorgeous daughter. And two baby boys who’ll look like identical twins.

Someone knocks on the door, and it cracks open. “You’re safe to keep up the same exercise routine you’ve done until now. We’ll see you again in a month and evaluate your extracurricular activities at that time.”

The door snaps shut again as they both bend down and kiss my belly. “Hello there, big boys. You’re going to make us the happiest family alive.”
