I grimace, shaking my head as he gives me a wide-eyed look.

“I meant on your own!”

“Of course.” Shelby snorts, heading to the street corner. “C’mon, an Uber will be here soon.”

“Can we come?” Finlay calls after us, a mischievous grin on his face.

“No.” I laugh, hurrying after Shelby.

The boys head off in the opposite direction, but not without singing to us. Shelby giggles, and I join her, shaking my head in disbelief at the so-called ‘men’ dancing with streetlights most romantically.

“Such a good night,” Shelby says, hugging her arms to her chest with a sigh. “But don’t think for one second that I’ve forgotten about Griffin because I haven’t. I want to knoweverything.”

The mention of his name makes me shiver with lust and longing, and I can’t stop the smile on my face.

“Why don’t you see him?” Shelby nudges me as the cab pulls up beside us, and we both climb in gratefully.

“Because Melody is in bed,” I remind her, clipping in my belt.

Shelby yawns, resting her head on the headrest.

“So? Can’t you be quiet?”

A wicked look takes over her face as I smile, turning to look out of the window.

“It’s one in the morning.”

Shelby shrugs.

“If you stay there, where am I going to stay?” Shelby frowns sleepily.

Shit.

Good point.

“It’s fine; we’ll both crash at mine,” I say, disappointment filling my stomach. “I can see him tomorrow.”

“No, bullshit.” Shelby nudges me. “Go see your man. I’ll stay at yours.”

She must be drunk if she thinks my dad won’t notice me not being there with her.

“Hardly,” I say, rolling my eyes. “Come with me to Griffin’s.”

I pull my phone out, my fingers swiping across the screen confidently.

IVY:

Are you awake? Can we come over? I promise we’ll be quiet.

What if he’s asleep?

I panic, thinking his phone is on loud and near Melody. Oh, God — what if I have woken thembothup?

GRIFFIN:

Who’s we?

I sink my teeth into my lip, telling him it’s Shelby.
