The idea of trying to find anyone like Ivy makes me snort with laughter, but I soon drift off, a smile on my face.
I love seeing Melody happy, and I love seeing Ivy full stop.
However long it lasts, I’m going to enjoy it.

IVY
Melody is asleep before I’ve finished reading her a story, her hands wrapping around Pup and Bunny. I watch her for a moment, her rosy cheeks and parted lips making me melt. She’s so cute and clearly exhausted.
Her bed is a simple wooden one with a sparkly pink duvet cover. I tidy up her toys and books, sweeping them away into their rightful places before switching on the night light and backing out of the room, watching Melody sleep before I leave.
She’s beautiful.
I hope she’s having nice dreams. It can’t be easy for her, having lost her mommy recently.
Backing away, I move to the stairs.
They creak beneath my weight, and I hope I haven’t woken her up. Sensitive children hear every sound, and I want her to rest.
She needs to rest. Sleep is healing.
I stop at the bottom of the stairs when I see Griffin asleep on the sofa. His head is thrown back, the beer bottle untouched on the table before him.
My heart thrums in my chest, and I bite my bottom lip as I steal the opportunity to gaze at him.
He’s beautiful too.
Cautiously I move forward, watching him sleep like I had his daughter just seconds before. I don’t want to wake him, but I have to head home and shower. I’m exhausted too, but in a good way.
Griffin is muscular and broad, and his shirt clings to his body, showing him off his full beauty. His dark hair is slicked back, and I can’t help but lick my lips at the sight of him.
God, I want to wake him up with my mouth on his, but my dad would shoot me. Then Griffin.
Plus, Griffin would be disgusted; I’m here to care for Melody, not ride his dick.
The idea of riding his dick has me moaning, and Griffin’s eyes flicker open to find me gawking at him like a love-struck teenager.
Oh, God.
“Shit, I’m sorry.” Griffin blinks hard, rising to his feet. “I must’ve dozed off.”
He towers over me, and I look up at him silently.
Does he know? Does he know how attractive he is?
You are pathetic. He’s your dad’s best friend, you fucking fool.
Embarrassed, I step back.
“It’s okay,” I say quickly. “Melody fell asleep just now; I’m sorry; I know you wanted to say goodnight.”
Griffin stares at me before shaking his head.
“She what?”
His voice is still thick from sleep, and I try to stop staring at his mouth. His full lips part slightly, and I realize he’s waiting for me to speak.
