George was also a man I was happy to put my faith in. Everyone in the castle was suspicious of his intentions when he first arrived the castle, just as they were with the Sanyek brothers. I walked with Adam into the castle, talking about how he managed to survive. I made my apologies, but he knew there was nothing that I could have done to help him. We walked through and I saw John in the distance and shouted him over. I asked him to find George and meet me in the coronation chamber and locked the doors behind me.

“Adam wants to fight for us” I started. George didn’t know who he was, but John did.

“No problem” John said, “We’ll find him some armour and a sword, we have training all day” John was usually very particular about who joined his army, but he knew the situation was dire. Everyone was accepted and anyone who hadn’t fought before was immediately given basic training.

“He won’t need any armour” I said, they both looked confused. “Pass me your swords” I said to John and George, they hesitated for a moment, but obeyed my command without any objections. I didn’t want them to make any rash movements out of fear. Adam was in one end of the room, and they were at the other. I gave Adam a knowing nod and he gave one back, he was clearly anxious about his secret being let out.

He closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. Then came the transformation that only I had ever seen before. The chest and the muscles widened, the hair grew thickly on his body. The teeth grew long and they eyes grew mean. I watched on in almost amusement at the reaction on the faces of John and George, they both briefly looked at me.

“It’s okay” I said, reassuring them. His transformation continued as he grew taller, wider and more ferocious. A wild beast this size could easily kill all three of us in this room, but this beast was far from wild. “Gentlemen, may I introduce you to the beast” I said, smiling. They both still looked petrified.

“It’s okay” said Adam, “I’m still the same man inside” both the soldiers looked understandably in shock.

“Have you got any training for that?” I joked with John.

“Nope, don’t think so” said John, cracking a smile as he finally broke out of his shock. “Thankfully, I don’t think the Sanyek’s do either” he said as he got up and walked towards the beast, now in delight that he had such a weapon on his side. He shook the beast’s hand, almost as if to check he was real. He most certainly was and John was in awe, as was George.

“That’s enough Adam, thank you” I said to him, allowing him to revert back into his normal form. He gradually did as the two men continued to watch in shock as the transformation reversed itself. The clothes he was wearing were now ripped and stretched beyond repair. I had taken some of his spare clothes into the room for him to get changed. I thought it would have been even more weird if Adam had walked in there naked.

“Thank you for your time” I said to Adam as he was now back to his human self, and fully clothed. I wanted to talk tactics and strategy with John and George, and needed to do so in light of this new weapon that we had available. We’d have to let the whole castle know about Adam’s secret shortly.
