“Broken?” I tilt my head. “Is that how he’s treated at school?”
She shrugs, but I don’t miss the pain etched across her face. “It’s not that they intentionally do it. It’s just that they all knew himbeforethe accident, and in that way, I guess we’re really lucky. No one bullies him for it. But they have a lot of sympathy for him. It drives him crazy. He wants to be treated like a normal kid, like he’s not going to break.”
My heart aches for him. “I can imagine that’s tough on him.”
“It is, but he handles everything so well. Better than most would.” She smiles, pride filling her eyes. “He’s a special kid.”
“He’s been raised well.” I eye her. “You’ve done a great job.”
“Thank you.” Her voice is soft. “I’ve been spread so thin these last few years that I’ve felt more like a failure than anything. So, that means a lot. It really does.”
Something stirs in my chest as I hold her gaze, and it takes everything I have not to reach out and pull her across the desk and into my arms. However, as much as I want to, that’s playing with fire around her.
And the office door swinging open is proof of that.
“Good afternoon, you two.” Dr. Lewis steps in, taking in the sight of us. “I see that Melody is still grading papers for you.”
She looks up at him, tilting her head and frowning. However, thankfully, she doesn’t ask any questions. I intend to keep her safe from the suggestions others have made.
“She is,” I tell him, my voice terse. “What can I help you with?”
He smiles, relaxing as Melody goes back to the essay grading. “I was just checking on the gala. Are you still up for attending this weekend? I know you said you were, but you know how these things go. And I know you have a lot on your plate.”
“I’ll be there. I’ve already arranged for Connor to stay with Madeline for the night. I know these things can run late.”
“Do they ever,” Dr. Lewis grumbles. “It’s insufferable sometimes, but it is what it is.”
I chuckle. “As long as there’s some strong drinks available, I think I’ll survive.”
“I like your attitude, Aiden.” He bursts into a fit of laughter. “I’ll make the mention to the caterers.” With that, he slips out of my office and shuts the door, leaving Melody, and I alone again.
“I’m going out this weekend, too.” She gives me a smile. “Fran convinced me to have a night out for myself. She thinks I don’t get out enough.”
“Well, I guess at least one of us will be having fun this weekend.” I smirk, shooting her a playful wink.
She giggles and sets the papers to the side, stands up, and walks to the door.
My mouth grows dry as she flips the lock.
“What’re you doing?”
Her tongue runs along her bottom lip as she makes her way around the desk, giving me a sly but seductive smile. “I just... I can’t stop thinking about what happened between us...”
“Me, either, but...” My voice trails off as she climbs into my lap, straddling me. “I don’t... This is risky.” I let out a light groan as she grinds her pussy against my cock, which is now straining against my pants.
Melody’s skirt gives easy access, and the thought of pushing those panties aside...
Fuck.
I’m breathless.
She squirms against me, trying to feed her own lusty needs, and I swallow hard, my eyes glancing back to the door.
“I want to know what it’s like to have a quickie,” she murmurs into my ear, setting my body on fire as her trembling hands rake over my dress shirt.
This is a bad idea.
But I can’t tell her no, not as she nibbles on my earlobe and fumbles with my pants.
