I put my hands on his chest and he lifts the ring up, reminding me that it’s there.
“We can get something you like better, but I wanted you to have one for today…” His voice trails off.
I glance down and gasp. “Callum.”
“It’s called a Sunburst Halo…seemed like another sign…if you like it,” he says. “The jeweler will also size it for you tomorrow if it’s not the right size.”
He’s more nervous than I’ve ever seen him, and it’s so endearing and sexy, I don’t know what to do with myself.
I hold up my finger and he slides it on. It fits.
He exhales like he’s relieved.
“Are you having any second thoughts?” he asks.
I shake my head. “None.”
“Me either.”
“How do you feel about kids?” I ask.
“I like them,” he says, his lips tipping up when I laugh.
“Me too. So you’d be happy if we were able to have kids together?”
“I’d be fucking beside myself.”
I press my lips together, but it’s hard to contain how giddy I feel right now.
“Will your family be upset that you’re doing this without them?”
He winces. “Yes. But they’ll be happy for me too.”
“While you were gone, I was thinking about them, wondering if you might wish they were with you. Maybe we do a little something with them later. We could even keep it to ourselves that we got married here and have a wedding with them. That way, we’d still have today for us, and they’d be included too.”
“I only need you there, but this a good plan. Otherwise, we’d hear about it for the rest of our lives.” He kisses my ringfinger and looks up at me while he’s still bent near my hand. “And Dolly can be there…”
That gets me. My eyes fill with tears and I press my lips together, trying to hold it in.
“I love you, Callum.”
“I love you too, Sunshine.”
CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
PRIMING AND OGLING
CALLUM
It feels surreal when Ruby walks down the aisle of the tiny chapel holding a bouquet of flowers, her eyes never leaving mine.
She looked breathtaking in that wedding dress the first day I saw her, and she looks breathtaking today in her sweater dress that highlights every curve and those fuck-me boots. She’ll look breathtaking tonight when I strip her bare and lay her across the sheets with only the moonlightas my guide…
I gulp when she stands in front of me, overwhelmed with how she’s taken permanent residence way down deep in my soul.
She places her flowers on a stand nearby and we join hands, facing each other.
The officiant, Mr. McDougal, clears his throat and begins.
