“Sal,” Gia breathes.
Caterina pales like she’s been shot. “Sal? Is he hurt? Why? Where is he? Does Marco know?”
Gia puts up a hand against her onslaught of questions. “There’s time for that. You can ask him yourself. He’s about a mile away, waiting for us to come get him.”
My head is pounding and my chest feels like it’s going to explode. “Gia,” I growl. “Why were you traveling with Sal De Luca?”
She fixes us both with a stare. “Okay, now you both have to promise to not freak out again. But really, neither one of you can do anything with what I’m about to tell you.”
“Gia, you have our promises,” I snap. “Get on with it.”
She sighs, looking at Caterina and I one last time. “We found the rat.”
“Who is it?” I want to roar.
She looks at Caterina.
Looks at me.
Looks back at Caterina. “I’m so sorry, Cat,” she whispers.
Gia looks at me. “It’s Dino De Luca.”

CATERINA
I blink at Gia.“I’m sorry. It sounded like you said that my brother, Dino, was the one who sold Luna’s location out to… whoever it was that came to hurt her.”
Gia sighs and pulls out her phone, tapping out a message. She looks over to Elio. “Tell your guards to let Sal through.”
Elio bristles for a second, then nods. He barks something in Italian to the nearest bodyguard, who nods, relaying the message into the microphone at his wrist.
“Sal is here?” I repeat. I feel like my brain isn’t processing anything that is happening.
Dino?
Dino gave up the location?
“Yes. Sal is here. He and I have been…” Gia shoots a look over to Elio.
Elio glowers at her.
She shrugs. “Hey, on paper, we’re basically one organization. It makes sense for us to combine our considerable observational powers and figure out who the fuck is out here trying to attack the baby.”
“Yeah,” I say weakly.
Said baby is luckily still inside, which is good, because I’m not sure how I would handle it if she was listening to all of this.
Not that she would know what’s going on, but still.
“Anyway,” Gia continues, her eyes closing as she leans back on the pool furniture. “Sal and I figured out that some shit was going sideways, and we followed…”
“Caterina.”
The sound of my brother’s voice is enough to drive me over the edge.
I burst into tears. I stand up and move toward him, drawn to my favorite brother like I’m a moth to a flame.
